The United States Marine Corps has a history of excellence in Morris County. This is the story of one Marine, SSgt. Stopczynski, who turned a four-year commitment into a lifelong career, outlines the values that define Marines, the training that will challenge them, and the good they do for the communities in which we live. Marines are dedicated to building strong bonds with their communities and making a difference that will last a lifetime.
From Four Years to a Career: A Marine’s Journey
SSgt. Stopczynski enlisted in the Marine Corps to serve for only four years and would return home to begin his law enforcement career. The experience, the training, and the many travels convinced him to make the Marine Corps his career. SSgt. Stopczynski has many notable achievements, and one of his biggest accomplishments is his success in recruiting duty.

What are the Marine’s Core Values?
The three foundational values of the Marine Corps are honor, courage, and commitment. These are not mere words, and they form the benchmark for developing each Marine into an individual with a high work ethic, strong integrity, and leadership qualities that are second to none. Further, the Corps is devoted to returning quality citizens to society, and SSgt. Stopczynski believes these Corps Values play an important role in achieving that.

Marines Preparing for Success
It begins within boot camp, where Marines are physically and mentally trained to set a benchmark for what a Marine is. Such intense training sets the stage for Marines always to be ready to fight, directly flowing from the Corps’ ethos of being the first to fight. At the same time, continuous training characterizes the life of a Marine; it is meant to achieve individual improvement and to improve those under command.
Community Engagement in Morris County
In Morris County, Marines are heavily involved in supporting the community. They participate in events such as Toys for Tots, Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day parades, and county fairs. They also interact with high school sporting teams through physical training and mentoring on leadership and teamwork. This helps to inform the public about the many benefits and opportunities of serving in the Marine Corps.
Additionally, there are numerous events where the Marines participate to speak with the public, such as the Career Carnival for Kids, Tri-County Fair, Randolph Freedom Festival, and local car meets. Building a relationship with the community is very important. “It shows that the Marines care about the local community even though we all come from different parts of the country,” said SSgt. Stopczynski
Leaving a Lasting Impression
The Marines’ objective is to be regarded and embraced by society, creating a lasting impression on every individual they interact with. Through their commitment and community service activities, they want to illustrate that the Marine Corps stands for much more than just defending and is set on making a difference where they serve.
The Marines of Morris County, through the indoctrination of core values, rigorous training, and community involvement, reflect the tradition, commitment, and spirit that set the very finest tone for the Marine Corps. This will guarantee their efforts to be viewed as warriors and the most integral community members in continuously building solid and positive relations.
“I hope Marines are recognized and respected and leave a positive and lasting impression on the community,” said SSgt. Stopczynski
