About Shop Morris County

Shop Morris County is the largest local guide to Morris County, New Jersey. We are an independent local media platform covering events, restaurants, local shopping, history and community news across all 39 towns in the county, and we publish every day for the people who live here and for anyone trying to figure out what there is to do this weekend.

From the tree-lined streets of Morristown to the rolling hills of Chester and Mendham, Morris County is packed with locally owned restaurants, family-run shops, seasonal festivals and hidden gems. Our job is to keep track of all of it so you never have to guess. If you only read one page on this site, make it our running list of things to do in Morris County this weekend, updated every week.

Who We Are

We are a team of Morris County locals who got tired of hearing people say there is nothing to do in New Jersey. That could not be further from the truth, and we set out to prove it. Today Shop Morris County is the largest local guide in the county, an independent, community-driven publication reaching more than 140,000 readers a month and covering the best dining, shopping, events, history and local news in every municipality.

Whether you have lived here your entire life or you are visiting for the first time, we want to be the resource you reach for when you are looking for a great meal, a weekend activity, or a reason to explore a town you have never been to before.

What We Cover

Events and Entertainment: Community fairs, holiday celebrations, live music, outdoor festivals and everything in between. Our Morris County events coverage runs year round, from carnivals and firemen’s fairs in the spring to fall festivals and fairs, plus a full schedule of farmers markets by town.

Restaurants and Food: From longstanding family diners to brand-new openings, we spotlight the places that make Morris County a destination for food lovers. Start with our guide to the best restaurants in Morris County, then go deeper on pizza, bagels, diners, coffee shops, bakeries, breweries and homemade ice cream.

Things to Do: Our things to do in Morris County section is built for actual weekends, not tourist brochures. That means hiking trails, waterfalls, lakes, playgrounds, museums, public golf courses and pick-your-own farms.

Shopping and Local Business: The small businesses that line our main streets are what give each town its character. We feature the shops, boutiques and services that deserve your attention and support.

We dig into the landmarks and historic sites, from Washington’s Headquarters in Morristown to Fosterfields Living Historical Farm and the Victorian cottages of Mount Tabor.

Local News: New business openings, town developments, school milestones, local sports and community updates that matter to the people who live here.

Our Mission

Shop Morris County was founded with a simple belief: when people shop local, eat local and engage with their community, everyone benefits. Small businesses create jobs. Local spending stays in the local economy. And the unique character of each town is preserved for the next generation.

Our goal is to make it easy for residents and visitors to find and support the businesses and events that make this county special. Every article we publish, every event we promote and every business we feature is part of that mission.

How We Work

Every event date, address, price and set of hours we publish is checked against a primary source, meaning the organizer, the business or the town itself, not another news site. Guides like our restaurant roundups and things to do lists are re-audited on a schedule so closed businesses and expired events come down.

Sponsored features are always identified as such, and paying to advertise never buys a spot in an editorial roundup. If we get something wrong, tell us and we will fix it.
