A Note on Farm Stands

Alstede Farms in Chester runs a year round farm store at 1 Alstede Farms Lane plus seasonal stands at 378 Route 24 in Chester and 54 Route 15 North in Wharton. Stony Hill Farm at 15 North Road in Chester is open daily from June 1 through December 23. Ort Farms at 25 Bartley Road in Long Valley is open year round. Sun High Orchards at 19 Canfield Avenue in Randolph runs from late April through December. Union Hill Farms at 25 Cooper Road in Denville is open daily May through November.
Plan Your Week
If you mapped out a typical week of farmers markets in Morris County during peak season, it would look something like this. Mondays in East Hanover or Kinnelon. Tuesdays in Riverdale. Fridays in Parsippany. Saturdays in Boonton, Chatham, Madison, or Morris Plains. Sundays in Denville or Morristown. And once the weather turns cold, the Grow It Green Winter Market in Morris Township keeps Sunday morning farm shopping alive straight through April.
Bring a reusable bag, bring cash for the smaller vendors, and bring an appetite. Always double check each market’s website or social media before heading out, especially in early or late season weeks when weather can shift things.
