Razorz Edge Barber Shop and Shave Parlor have been a vital part of the Jefferson community, offering grooming services to clients of all ages. With a rich family tradition in entrepreneurship, Razorz Edge has consistently adapted to meet the evolving needs of its clientele. The following article explores how Razorz Edge has transitioned from a startup to a beloved community establishment, navigating through challenging times, including the closure of the Jefferson Route 15 bridge.
The Journey of Razorz Edge Barber Shop and Shave Parlor
The impetus behind coming up with Razorz Edge was purely a family tradition of entrepreneurship. Growing up in a family of small business owners, she had always wished to follow in their footsteps. In 2015, despite her nerve, she leaped. She carefully saved to avoid taking out a loan and signed the lease on July 1st, 2015. The shop’s name, recommended by her husband, is derived from a movie his grandfather often referred to, “The Razor’s Edge.” With the help of her family, she bought previously used equipment, painted, and set everything up, flipping a sign open over Labor Day weekend in 2015. Now, nine years later, Razorz Edge has grown to three locations in Jefferson, Randolph, and Parsippany.

Jefferson Route 15 Bridge Closure
The community and all the small local businesses, such as Razorz Edge Barber Shop and Shave Parlor, were under much pressure when the Jefferson Route 15 bridge closed unexpectedly. People wanted to avoid driving into that part of town, knowing their trip back might take a while.
Despite all the odds, Razorz Edge was open at its usual operating hours. Occasionally, the owner closed the shop early because there were too few customers to keep it open. Tough times these were, but the team wanted to see it through for the loyal customer base.
Response to the Route 15 Bridge Closure
Since the bridge shut down, the owner would respond effectively, which would have minimal effects on the business. Social media has become the primary source of communication. With the information about the closure already in, messages were sent out to social media platforms announcing to the clients that Razorz Edge Barber Shop and Shave Parlor were open even with the challenging commute. Following the meeting with the local business people, subsequent posts were issued to reiterate that all the local businesses were still operating and recognizable.
Improving Business Success
The most visible change adopted recently is that it no longer operates purely as a walk-in barber shop but also takes appointments. The days have passed when one would bear the inconvenience without calling for an appointment. Already, many new faces have visited the shop for this reason alone. With social media and online appointment systems, accommodating the requirements of the modern client has become easy for Razorz Edge, ensuring a much smoother and more efficient experience for all.
Positive Environment at Razorz Edge
Creating a positive and productive work environment with a team of different personalities takes a little thought. This means keeping the employees satisfied by requesting input on potential changes and any new ideas. This way, they feel a sense of ownership and can take pride in their shop. Communication sets everything in motion. The owner tries to be open and honest with the team so everyone feels considered, which is essential.

Future of Razorz Edge
Razorz Edge just had a facelift, which updated the space. Jefferson is an excellent town with community support beyond words. She sees much growth for the Jefferson location in the next five years. Her vision is that all barbers continue to be booked with weekly appointments. The owner is committed to ensuring this happens, for this business sustains her livelihood and that of her employees.
Razorz Edge caters to the old and young, providing a broad spectrum of haircuts and shaving. They have built their business upon resilience, innovation, and strong ties with their community.
