Castle Cove Mini Golf & Arcade: Impact of Jefferson Route 15 Bridge Closure

Castle Cove Mini Golf & Arcade, the perfect mixture of mini golf, mining, and arcade games, was founded in 2011 and continues to provide excellent family entertainment in Lake Hopatcong, NJ. This family business has entertained locals and visitors with various entertainment options for singles and groups. However, lately, the closing of the Jefferson Route 15 bridge has impacted traffic patterns, hitting this business extremely hard.

Changes in Customer Traffic

The closure of the Jefferson Route 15 bridge has grossly affected the normal flow of traffic that Castle Cove Mini Golf & Arcade has enjoyed for the last 15 years. The detour set up to reroute traffic back onto Route 80 now bypasses the facility altogether, significantly reducing visibility and passing traffic. According to reports, this number has shrunk from 33,000 per day to just a few hundred. This dangerous drop hurt customer turnout drastically.

Even though there is a detour, Castle Cove Mini Golf & Arcade would like to inform everyone that their facility is still accessible from both the northbound and southbound sides of Route 15. As always, the business is open seven days a week and is always ready to have fun for all visitors.

Plans for Recovery

Castle Cove Mini Golf & Arcade plans to keep that course open for the later fall months if the weather cooperates in response to the bridge closing. Castle Cove Mini Golf & Arcade is seasonal; this closure brought some completely different problems that greatly affected this business during its peak season. They are dedicated to serving the community by making up for the lost traffic and keeping themselves open for longer than usual this year.

What Castle Cove Mini Golf Offers

Castle Cove Mini Golf & Arcade is an entertainment hub that offers the following activities:

  • Miniature Golf: This course is located on 3 acres, has 18 holes, and is wheelchair accessible or stroller-friendly. It’s a great game enjoyed by people of all ages combined for fun and friendly competition.
  • Arcade: A retro game arcade where most games come at a quarter to play so families can afford fun. It still runs on tickets—nostalgic in itself.
  • Mining Station: A place where customers can collect gemstones and fossils.
  • Party and Group Rates: Hosting birthday parties and providing group rates for school field trips, camps, youth groups, and scouts.

The miniature golf course has been the best feature so far, going on to serve all classes of players who have ever played the game with varying ages. It is an activity that may prove to be competitive or purely for fun, so it is ideal for families, couples, friends, and solo visitors.

Community Engagement

Castle Cove Mini Golf & Arcade believes in giving back to the community and often donating free passes or gift certificates to neighboring towns or communities like Lake Shawnee and Lake Winona. They also give back to summer reading programs at the Sussex and Morris County libraries and have things like “Putt with the Police” to support their Jefferson Township Police Department. They also do fund-raisers and bake sales for the local church on Route 15.

This year alone, Castle Cove has donated to more than 50 events and causes, repayable in some manner with return business from summer camps, their attendees, and fans from foreign shores. The reward of giving back, of happy faces, for the family business, at least, goes a long way to making up for much of its loss due to the bridgework.
