The Chatham Township Fire Department is hosting a Community Appreciation Day on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Chatham Township Municipal Building, 58 Meyersville Road. It is free, it is built for families, and you do not have to live in the township to come.
The rain date is Sunday, October 11, same hours.
What Kids Can Do at Community Appreciation Day
The department is turning the municipal grounds into an afternoon of games, treats and trucks. Here is what is on the flyer:
- A bounce house and an inflatable fire truck slide
- Fresh popcorn, ice cream and cotton candy
- A close look at the fire trucks
- A chance to talk with the volunteer firefighters
- A turn on the fire hose
Letting kids spray a real hose and climb around the apparatus is the part they will remember. It is also a nice way to meet the people who answer the calls in your neighborhood, especially with Fire Prevention Week running October 4 to 10.
When and Where
- Date: Saturday, October 10, 2026 (rain date Sunday, October 11)

Check the Chatham Township community calendar on the morning of the 10th if the weather looks iffy, since that is where a switch to the rain date would show up.
Make a Day of It in the Chathams
Meyersville Road runs right toward the Great Swamp, so a morning on the boardwalks and a late lunch on Main Street pair well with a 2 p.m. fire truck visit. Our guide to things to do in Chatham, NJ has the full rundown, and our Halloween in Morris County guide lists the trunk or treats and haunted trails coming up later this month.
