Christmas market season in New Jersey is short. Most of it happens across three weekends in early December, several of the best markets land on the same days, and if you want to do more than one, you have to plan it. Updated October 11, 2026: three of the big ones have now locked in their 2026 dates, and we have moved one market back to the not yet announced list until its organizers confirm.

German Christmas Market of New Jersey
Sussex County Fairgrounds, 37 Plains Road, Augusta. Friday, December 4, 2026, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, December 5, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, December 6, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is the largest annual Christmas market in the state, 2026 is its 25th market, and it draws about 30,000 visitors to a fairground full of wooden huts, German food, hand-crafted gifts and holiday entertainment.
Admission is $10 for ages 13 and up and $7 for seniors 65 and over, and children 12 and under and veterans with ID get in free. Online presales open in early November. It runs as a nonprofit and supported 64 charities in 2025. It is roughly 45 minutes from most of Morris County, so it is the one to buy ahead for and make a full day of.
Holiday CraftMorristown
Morristown Armory, 430 Western Avenue, Morristown. Friday, December 11, 2026, 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, December 13, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Run by Artrider, this is the serious one for handmade gifts. Admission is $12, seniors 62 and over pay $10, and kids under 16 get in free. Bring cash or a checkbook, because admission is cash or check only. Parking is free, with a free shuttle to the entrance.
Christmas Festival at the Morristown Green
Morristown. Free. Santa arrives and the Green is lit on Saturday, November 28, 2026, and the Christmas Festival follows on select dates from November 29 through December 20. It is the closest thing Morris County has to a town-square Christmas market and the anchor of the whole season here.
Morris County Markets That Come Back Every Year
These have not posted 2026 dates yet. The details below are what each one did last season, and we will confirm each as it is announced.
Morristown Christmas Market. Rauscher Hall, behind Assumption Church at 91 Maple Avenue, Morristown. In 2025 it ran Saturday, December 6, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, December 7, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., with free admission and parking behind the church. We had listed a December 4 to 6 weekend for 2026, but the organizers have not posted 2026 dates, so treat that as unconfirmed until they do.
Country Christmas at Alstede Farms. Chester. In 2025 the farm ran Country Christmas weekends from November 22 through December 14, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with free admission and cut-your-own trees at $100 each. Expect a similar run of November and December weekends this year.
Winterfest at Ort Farms. Long Valley. Two December weekends of holiday festivities at the farm. Dates for 2026 have not been posted.
Holiday Craft Fair at Rockaway Townsquare. Rockaway. In 2025 the fair ran December 13 and 14 and December 20 and 21, Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays noon to 6 p.m. Indoor, heated and with all the parking you need.
East Hanover Winter Festival. East Hanover. Free. In 2025 it ran Sunday, December 7, 2 to 6 p.m., followed by the tree lighting at Town Square Park.
The Christmas Barn at Morris County Farms. Denville. Open through December in past seasons. Not an event so much as a destination for ornaments, wreaths, trees and holiday decor. Go on a weekday if you want to actually browse it.
Madison Farm and Artisan Market. Madison. The Saturday market runs 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and kept going through December 13 in 2025. Good for stocking stuffers without making a whole day of it.
Grow It Green Winter Market. Morristown. In past seasons it has run Sundays from December through April, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is the one that outlasts the season, so it is worth knowing about in January when everything else has packed up.
Planning Notes
Three dates anchor the 2026 season: the Morristown Green lighting on Saturday, November 28, the German market weekend of December 4 to 6, and CraftMorristown the following weekend, December 11 to 13. If you only have one free day, Saturday December 5 in Augusta is the big one, but it is also the day parking is worst.
Bring cash. CraftMorristown only takes cash or check at the door, and plenty of artisan vendors at the smaller markets still prefer it. And dress for standing outside: the German market and the farm events are largely outdoors, and December in northwest New Jersey is colder than the forecast for Morristown suggests.
