On Wednesday, October 16, the Lakeland Hills Family YMCA hosted the successful unveiling of its new Art Gallery, showcasing the creative works of students from the Academy for Design at the Morris County Vocational School District. Kelly Horvath, the Community Engagement Manager at the Lakeland Hills YMCA, said, “Tonight, we celebrate the success of these young artists who are giving us the gift of community. You see, the art created by these young and talented individuals has inspired reflection and is forming a connection between us along with the community that transcends differences and builds bonds.” Kelly has been instrumental in providing projects for MCST students, especially in the Academy for Design. The event, held at the YMCA’s Mountain Lakes location, brought together community members, young artists, and supporters of local talent.
Attendees had the chance to meet the student artists, hear their stories, and gain insight into the inspiration behind their artwork. The gallery was filled with a wide range of creative pieces, each reflecting the students’ unique perspectives and talents. From vibrant paintings to intricate designs, the students’ work captured the attention and admiration of everyone present.
The 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. event provided a welcoming space for the community to engage with local art while enjoying light refreshments. Many attendees appreciated the diverse and impressive collection on display and noted how the event highlighted the promising talents of the next generation of artists.
