Holiday 2026 is coming fast, and if your hair is on the list, we have a salon in East Hanover you should know. Lush The Collective at 19 Ridgedale Avenue is a luxury hair salon and permanent cosmetics studio founded by husband and wife Dominick and Frances Baccollo, and this fall we sat down with Frances to hear the story, the trends and the best way to get on the holiday schedule.
The Story Behind Lush
Before there was Lush The Collective, there was Lush Cosmetic Arts. Frances tells us she founded it in Montclair more than a decade ago, built around permanent cosmetics and a simple philosophy: less is more. Dominick came from the other side of the beauty world as a hairstylist trained in precision cutting, color and hair design. Together they decided to bring their two specialties under one roof.
The word collective was intentional. Frances describes a group of individual artists, each with their own talents and specialties, working toward one shared goal. As the salon puts it, “The talent is individual. The experience is collective.”

Luxury Without the Attitude
“We never wanted to be a hair factory,” Frances told us. The goal was a beautiful, elevated space where clients are greeted like friends and feel comfortable being themselves. According to Frances, the salon fills about 4,000 square feet, with the main hair salon on one side and a separate, private studio for Lush Cosmetic Arts on the other.
The team mixes seasoned stylists with emerging artists, and education is a big part of the culture. Assistants and apprentices work alongside every stylist rather than just one, and stylists regularly teach hands on classes in their specialties. Frances also gave a special shout out to Joanne, who she calls the right hand of everyone at Lush.
Signature Services Clients Love
- Hair color: custom color, dimensional blonding, balayage and lived in color.
- Cuts: precision haircuts, including bobs, pixies and men’s cuts.
- Extensions: hand tied, K tip and tape in extensions.
- Treatments and styling: signature bouncy blowouts, keratin and smoothing treatments and hair health services.
- Events: bridal and special occasion makeup and styling.
- Lush Cosmetic Arts: microblading, powder and combination brows, lip blushing, permanent eyeliner and scalp micropigmentation.

Fall and Winter Hair Trends for 2026
Frances says rich brunettes and soft copper, cinnamon and auburn shades are still going strong, while blondes are moving toward creamy beiges, buttery blondes and warm honey tones. For cuts, the bob continues to lead, especially the Italian and French bob, along with modern shags, face framing layers, curtain bangs, pixies and bixies.
Her biggest trend of all is individuality. “Trends are great for inspiration, but the best hair is the hair that works for you.” If you want a change without a dramatic transformation, she suggests a few inches off, a richer tone or a little added dimension.
Keeping Hair Healthy This Winter
Cold air outside and dry heat inside can leave hair dull, staticky and prone to breakage. Frances recommends a professional shampoo and conditioner suited to your hair type, a weekly hydrating mask, leave in conditioner and heat protectant, regular trims and less heat styling. Watch the friction from scarves and sweaters, especially if you wear extensions, and winter is a smart time for an in salon conditioning or bond repair treatment.
Holiday 2026 Specials and Booking
Lush releases its holiday specials on Black Friday, so keep an eye on the salon’s Instagram and website. The holidays are one of the busiest times of year, and Frances says some stylists are already fully booked on certain dates. She recommends booking holiday appointments four to six weeks ahead, especially for color, highlights and extensions.
Frances says the transformations that mean the most go beyond hair, from walking alongside clients through illness and hair loss to helping someone recognize themselves again. And after more than 25 years living in East Hanover, she says the town is simply home, with the salon supporting local events, school sports teams and the Italian Club’s Columbus Day celebrations.
