The St. Patrick’s Day Parade of Morris County will return to Morristown on Saturday, March 14, 2026, stepping off at 12:00 noon and continuing a tradition rooted in local history, Irish culture, and decades of community celebration.
The annual, family friendly event honors St. Patrick, Ireland’s patron saint, while celebrating Morris County’s deep Irish heritage and strong community spirit. Each year, thousands of residents and visitors line the streets of Morristown to enjoy marching bands, community groups, local organizations, and cultural displays that bring the county together in celebration.
Organizers point to a powerful historical connection between Morris County and St. Patrick’s Day that dates back to March 17, 1780, following the harsh winter encampment of 1779 to 1780 in Jockey Hollow. In recognition of the service and support of Irish militiamen during the Revolutionary War, George Washington granted them the day off. Parade officials describe that moment as the beginning of the first St. Patrick’s Day celebration in the United States, with roots tied directly to Morris County.
The parade is fully self funded and supported entirely by generous corporate and individual sponsors. No public funds are used for parade expenses, ensuring there is no cost to taxpayers.
Residents are encouraged to mark their calendars and plan to attend one of Morris County’s most anticipated annual traditions next March.
