Nick Sota, the founder of Parsippany Cube Club, shares his inspiring journey, unique approach, and impact on children. Here’s a closer look at how Parsippany Cube Club started, its mission, and the challenges faced in running a business.
From a Hobby to the Parsippany Cube Club
Nick Sota’s passion for Rubik’s Cubes began during the pandemic when he was in sixth grade. “I was interested in Rubik’s Cubes and showed my friends, parents, and their friends. They were intrigued and asked if I could teach their kids,” Sota recalls. His first batch of students, who were taught via FaceTime, ignited a spark that led to the founding of the Parsippany Cube Club.
Nick sought ways to give back to the community as the club grew. “We started charging a small fee, initially $25 a month, and raised over $11,000 for local food pantries across New Jersey over three to four years,” Sota notes. This initiative highlights the club’s commitment to social responsibility.

A Unique Approach to Learning
What sets Parsippany Cube Club apart from other organizations? Sota says, “No other organization exists solely to teach Rubik’s Cubing. We are among the first in the area, with students from different countries and states.” The club offers online and in-person lessons in the Parsippany and surrounding areas, ensuring accessibility to a broad audience.
Sota emphasizes the cognitive benefits of learning to solve a Rubik’s Cube. “It’s a great way to stimulate the brain, especially for younger kids. The cognitive and algorithmic training involved has significant educational value,” he explains. The club’s collaboration with local schools and gifted and talented programs further underscores its educational impact.
Overcoming Challenges and Expanding
Like any growing organization, Parsippany Cube Club faces its share of challenges. “Growing the organization has been tough. At 16, I don’t have much experience, but through learning and guidance, we’ve expanded,” Sota said. His vision includes reaching more students and increasing awareness about the club’s benefits.
The club offers a range of tutoring options, from private sessions to group lessons, with prices varying accordingly. “We also offer free meetings and competitions periodically,” Sota says, ensuring the club remains accessible to everyone.
Future Plans and Community Impact of Parsippany Cube Club
Looking ahead, Sota has ambitious plans for the club. “My vision is to open an in-person center in Parsippany and expand over time to cover more areas. We also want to contribute more to the community,” he shares. One of the club’s innovative initiatives is to collaborate with blind schools, teaching visually impaired children to solve Rubik’s Cubes using specialized cubes with different shapes.
The cube club seeks new members and tutors to join their team. “We have a surplus of students and need more people to teach. There’s a training course for new tutors,” Sota mentions, inviting anyone interested to join the mission.

Become Involved with the Parsippany Cube Club
As the interview concludes, Sota extends an invitation to collaborate. “We’re always looking for ways to expand and collaborate on events. If you’re interested in marketing or teaching, we’d love to have you on board,” he says, demonstrating the club’s inclusive and community-focused spirit.
The Parsippany Cube Club shows a simple interest can evolve into a powerful educational tool and community asset. With Nick Sota at the helm, the future looks bright for this one-of-a-kind organization.
