The Read Feed Run Turkey Trot takes over the Ginty Field Complex in Morris Township on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 26, 2026. There is a 5K, a 1 mile fun run and a Kids’ Trot, so the whole family can get moving before the turkey goes in the oven.

Every registration supports two Morris County causes: Literacy Volunteers of Morris County and the Interfaith Food Pantry Network. The theme on this year’s flyer says it best: fight hunger, promote literacy.

Read Feed Run Turkey Trot Race Times

All three races start at the Ginty Field Complex on Woodland Avenue in Morris Township on Thursday, November 26, 2026:

  • 5K Turkey Trot: 8:30 a.m.
  • 1 Mile Fun Run and Walk: 8:40 a.m.
  • Kids’ Trot (12 and under): 9:15 a.m. on the lawn

The 1 mile option is a great fit for walkers, grandparents and anyone who wants to be part of the morning without committing to a full 5K. The Kids’ Trot gives the little ones their own race, and their own moment at the finish.

Where Your Registration Goes

Literacy Volunteers of Morris County, based on Elm Street in Morristown, runs a free program that pairs trained volunteer tutors with adults who live or work in Morris County and want to build their English and reading skills. The Interfaith Food Pantry Network helps keep food on the table for Morris County neighbors who need a hand, which makes Thanksgiving morning a fitting time to run for it.

Runners can also set up a personal fundraising page through the race site to raise a little extra for both organizations.

Not Running? Volunteers Are Needed

If lacing up is not your thing, you can still make a difference on Thanksgiving morning. The organizers are looking for volunteers to help the race run smoothly. Details are on the Read Feed Run Turkey Trot website.

How to Register for the Read Feed Run Turkey Trot

Registration is open online now at runsignup.com/Race/NJ/Morristown/ReadFeedRun5K. Thanksgiving race spots and holiday plans both fill up fast, so lock in your spot early and get the family on the same page before the week of the holiday.
