Fall in Morris County has a rhythm to it. The beach chairs go back in the garage, the calendar tightens up, and a lot of people start looking for a workout they can actually stick with once the routine comes back. Learn more at rebelcorenj.com
At Rebel Core in Cedar Knolls, that shift is easy to spot.
“Fall always brings a renewed energy into the studio,” said Stephanie Rogers, who owns Rebel Core along with her husband Bill. “Vacations begin to slow down, schedules become more structured and people are ready to recommit to themselves. Classes feel energized, members set new goals and there is a real sense of everyone getting back into a rhythm together.”
Rebel Core opened its Cedar Knolls studio as its Morris County home, joining locations in Roseland and Ramsey. The draw is a custom piece of equipment called the X-Former, a machine built with a moving carriage, two platforms, and seven resistance springs designed to support the joints while the muscles do the work.

If you have never taken a class on an X-Former, the format can sound intimidating from the parking lot. Rogers breaks it down plainly.
“A Rebel Core class is 45 minutes of intentional, full body work on our X-Former,” she said. “We combine slow, controlled movements with resistance, balance and strength training to challenge the entire body, especially the core. The transitions are purposeful, the music is energizing and the class keeps you mentally engaged from beginning to end.”
The Rebel Method pulls from bodybuilding, physical therapy, and core focused movement, which is where the difference from a traditional reformer class shows up.
“It is low impact, but it is definitely not low intensity,” Rogers said. “Our instructors are trained to offer modifications and progressions, so someone taking their first class can work alongside someone who has been coming for years. Everyone is challenged at their own level.”
Why Cedar Knolls
Choosing Cedar Knolls was about reach.
“Cedar Knolls felt like the perfect fit because it is centrally located, accessible to so many surrounding Morris County communities and filled with people who genuinely value health and wellness,” Rogers said. “We saw an opportunity to bring something different to the area, not simply another workout, but a modern Pilates experience built around strength, consistency and community.”
She said the response since opening has been steady and personal. Members have come in as strangers, built relationships, and made Rebel Core part of their weekly routine. Support from local residents and neighboring businesses, she said, has made Cedar Knolls feel like home.
If You Have Been Meaning To Book A First Class
This is also the time of year when good intentions pile up. Rogers has heard the hesitation plenty of times.
“You do not need to be in shape before you begin. That is what the classes are for. Every person in the room had a first class, and nobody walks in already knowing everything.”

“Our instructors will guide you, offer modifications and help you build confidence,” she said. “Starting is usually the hardest part. Once you are through the door, we take it from there.”

There is no single profile of a Rebel Core member. The roster runs from busy professionals and parents to athletes, beginners, and people easing back into movement after time away. What they share is 45 minutes set aside for themselves.
“The transformations that stay with us are not always about weight or appearance,” Rogers said. “They are the members who were nervous to begin and eventually moved from the back of the room to choosing a machine in the front. They are the people who tell us they feel stronger in their everyday lives, have more confidence or finally found a workout they can remain consistent with.”
What To Know Before Your First Class
For anyone planning a first class, arrive about 15 minutes early so an instructor can walk you through the X-Former before class starts. Grip socks are required. Bring water and wear comfortable workout clothing.
“Your first class is about learning the machine, listening to your body and experiencing the method,” Rogers said. Do not worry about keeping pace with the person next to you.
Rebel Core is rolling out introductory options this fall so new clients can take more than one class and get comfortable with the format before committing. Current offers and packages are listed in the Rebel Core app and on the studio website.
Between now and the holidays, members can expect seasonal studio challenges, local collaborations, and events both inside and outside the studio, announced through the app, email, and the studio social channels. Newcomers are welcome at all of it.
What Is Next For Rebel Core
Looking ahead to the rest of 2026, the team is adjusting schedules based on member demand, expanding the Rebel Method, and adding more ways for people to work strength, mobility, and recovery into a normal week. New locations are on the table when the fit is right.
“Growth is exciting, but our priority is making sure every studio continues to feel personal, welcoming and connected,” Rogers said. “We never want to lose the community first approach that built Rebel Core.”
Rebel Core Cedar Knolls is located at 240 Cedar Knolls Road in Cedar Knolls. Class schedules, memberships, and current new client offers are available at rebelcorenj.com and in the Rebel Core app.
