Coniglio’s Old Fashioned, the pizzeria at 11 South Street in Morristown, is the only New Jersey restaurant on DoorDash’s 2026 Top Pizza Spots list, a national ranking of 40 independent pizzerias released on Tuesday, October 13, for National Pizza Month. The shop is run by Brooklyn-born pizza maker Nino Coniglio, a ten-time world pizza champion, and DoorDash called him out by name in its announcement.
For a list that covers the entire country, that is a big deal for Morristown. Every other Northeast pick came from Pennsylvania, New York, or Massachusetts.
How DoorDash Picked Its 2026 Top Pizza Spots
This is not a critics’ list. According to DoorDash’s National Pizza Month announcement, the ranking is built from real customer data from September 2025 through September 2026. To qualify, a pizzeria had to have fewer than 10 locations, at least 1,000 reviews on DoorDash, and one of the highest average customer ratings in the country.
Last year DoorDash only looked at five pizza states (California, Connecticut, Illinois, Michigan, and New York), so New Jersey was not even eligible. This year the list went national, with 10 picks each from the Midwest, Northeast, South, and West. Coniglio’s landed in the Northeast group alongside spots in Philadelphia, Buffalo, and Bayport, New York.
The Champion Behind the Counter
Nino Coniglio grew up in Brooklyn and worked his way through neighborhood pizzerias before he ever competed. In 2005 he won his first title at the World Pizza Championships in Salsomaggiore Terme, Italy, and he has now won it a total of 10 times, according to Coniglio’s. He is also a Chopped champion on Food Network, and he owns Williamsburg Pizza in Brooklyn.
Coniglio’s Old Fashioned opened just off the Morristown Green in October 2022, which means this honor lands right around the shop’s fourth birthday. Expect classic New York style pies, a vintage feel, and a crew that takes the dough seriously.
What America Is Ordering
DoorDash also shared what customers ordered most across nearly 30 million pizza orders in 2025:
- Pepperoni was the most ordered topping, followed by onion and sausage.
- White pizza was the most ordered style, with more than 3 million orders.
- New York style was the fastest growing major style, up more than 80 percent year over year.
- Orders with caramelized onions and meatballs grew more than 120 percent.
- Pineapple was ordered more often than olives, bacon, chicken, or ham.
