In the spirit of the holiday season, Kiwanis Clubs across Northern New Jersey joined forces this week to serve more than 300 hot turkey dinners to senior citizens and individuals in need, creating a sense of warmth and togetherness in the community.
The Morristown High School Key Club, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Morristown, played a vital role in hosting a Thanksgiving event at the Cedar Knolls IHOP. Over 100 meals were served, with students warmly welcoming guests, taking orders, and delivering plates of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, and green beans. To extend the celebration beyond the event, club members delivered meals to residents unable to attend, ensuring everyone could enjoy a festive meal.

Transportation was thoughtfully arranged to help guests reach the dinner, thanks to Colonial Coach, and attendees went home with a variety of pies, adding a sweet conclusion to their meal. Local sponsors helped make this additional gesture possible.
In Kenvil, the Kiwanis Club of Greater Dover and the Morris Hills High School Key Club hosted a similar event at the IHOP, serving over 175 meals. The students, known for their enthusiasm and dedication, created a welcoming and joyful atmosphere. Guests who needed assistance with transportation were supported by community resources, ensuring inclusivity for all attendees. As with the Cedar Knolls event, pies were distributed to bring a taste of the holidays home.
The Parsippany IHOP hosted another event, led by the Kiwanis Club of Greater Parsippany, with help from Key Clubs at Parsippany Hills High School, Parsippany High School, and Mountain Lakes High School. More than 100 meals were served, and volunteers delivered hot dinners to homebound residents, continuing the club’s mission to reach everyone in the community. Pies, sponsored by local supporters, added an extra touch of holiday cheer.
Frank Cahill, NJ District Governor-Elect and member of the Kiwanis Club of Greater Parsippany, played a pivotal role in coordinating these events, showcasing his commitment to service and leadership. Cahill personally attended several gatherings, ensuring a warm and inclusive experience for everyone. His dedication to fostering collaboration between clubs and communities was a driving force behind the initiative’s success.
These events demonstrated the profound impact of community collaboration, with businesses, students, and local leaders working together to make the holidays brighter for those in need. Volunteers dedicated their time and energy to ensure no one felt forgotten, embodying the spirit of giving and compassion that defines the holiday season.
