Madison kicks off the holiday season the night after Thanksgiving. The Madison Christmas Parade steps off at 5:30 PM on Friday, November 27, 2026, and the borough’s tree lighting follows on Waverly Place at about 6:30 PM, right after the parade ends. Santa rides in the parade down Main Street.
The route starts at the Madison Ambulance Corps building, runs down Prospect Street, turns left onto Main Street and ends at Condurso Way. The parade is run by the all-volunteer Madison Christmas Committee with the Borough of Madison, and the Morris County Tourism Bureau notes it usually runs 60 to 75 minutes, with floats and marching bands along with Santa. The borough also plans a livestream for anyone who cannot make it in person.
Parking takes some planning. According to the Borough of Madison holidays page, Main Street, Prospect Street, Kings Road, Central Avenue, Green Village Road, Lincoln Place and Waverly Place will close for the parade. Cars parked on Main Street, Prospect Street and Waverly Place must be moved by 4 PM or they will be towed, and the Prospect Street, Maple Avenue and train station lots must be cleared by noon. The borough suggests parking on Kings Road, Cook Avenue and Elmer Street and in the Waverly Green lots. The Morris County Tourism Bureau event listing has more on the evening.
Madison’s holiday calendar continues into December. The community menorah lighting, hosted by Chabad of Southeast Morris County with the borough, is Sunday, December 6, 2026, at 5 PM on the Kings Road side of the Madison train station. In bad weather it moves inside to the courtroom at Hartley Dodge Memorial, 50 Kings Road, and Kings Road closes between Green Avenue and Prospect Street during the lighting.
