Morristown’s biggest holiday tradition has its 2026 dates. The Morristown Partnership kicks off the season with Santa’s Arrival and the Lighting of the Morristown Green on Saturday, November 28, 2026, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and the Christmas Festival at the Morristown Green then runs on 10 more days through Sunday, December 20. Almost everything is free.
2026 Christmas Festival Dates
- Saturday, November 28: Santa’s Arrival and the Lighting of the Morristown Green
- Sunday, November 29
- Friday, December 4, Saturday, December 5 and Sunday, December 6
- Friday, December 11, Saturday, December 12 and Sunday, December 13
- Friday, December 18, Saturday, December 19 and Sunday, December 20
The Partnership says it will post the full activity and entertainment schedule on a rolling basis on its event page. Daily hours for 2026 are not up yet. For planning, last year the kickoff ran 5 to 8 p.m., festival weekends ran noon to 7 p.m., and Fridays ran 3 to 8 p.m.
What’s at the Festival
The Green fills with a Santa House, holiday music and crafts, a vintage style oversized rocking horse, ice sculpture demonstrations and free rides around the Green on a miniature electric train. Every activity is free except photos with Santa, which cost $15. Last year’s kickoff also brought carolers, a countdown to the lighting, Santa’s arrival on a downtown rooftop and free hot chocolate, cookies and cider.
Parking and Getting There
The Morristown Green sits at the center of town, bordered by East Park Place, and the Morristown NJ TRANSIT station is about a 10 minute walk away. Last year the Partnership offered free parking in the Ann/Bank Garage on December weekends and free on street metered parking in the days before Christmas. Watch the Partnership’s site for the 2026 parking offer.
Make It a Morristown Holiday Day
Festival weekends overlap with a packed holiday stage season a few blocks away. New Jersey Ballet’s Nutcracker plays the Mayo Performing Arts Center on December 11 to 13 and 18 to 20, and MPAC also hosts A Charlie Brown Christmas on November 27 and Mannheim Steamroller on November 28. The full list is in our Christmas shows guide. Hungry? Our best restaurants in Morristown list is all within walking distance of the Green.
