Morristown’s Living History Weekend runs Friday, September 25, through Sunday, September 27, 2026, with Revolutionary War reenactors on the Morristown Green, open houses at the town’s historic sites, and a trivia night to kick things off. The free weekend is part of Morris County’s celebration of America’s 250th and is organized by the Morris County Tourism Bureau’s Morris County 250th program.
One change before you go: the Saturday night fireworks have been postponed because of the nor’easter in the forecast, and the town says it hopes to reschedule. With rain possible all weekend, call ahead or check the official schedule before heading to any outdoor program.
Friday, September 25: Morris County History Trivia Night
The weekend opens with a Revolutionary War and Morris County history trivia night at Glenbrook Brewery in Morristown from 7 to 9 p.m. Bring a team, grab a local beer, and find out how much you actually remember about the winters Washington’s army spent here.
Saturday, September 26: Encampment on the Green and Historic Site Open Houses
Saturday is the main event. Revolutionary War reenactors and historic figures set up an encampment on the Morristown Green from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a militia, demonstrations, 18th century medical and weaponry exhibits, and a silhouette artist.
From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., three downtown historic sites open their doors for special programs, exhibits, talks and tours:
- Macculloch Hall Historical Museum
- The Sansay House, with the American Friends of Lafayette
- The Presbyterian Church in Morristown, with programs by the Morris County Historical Society
Two more sites add tours of their own. The Ford Mansion, Washington’s Headquarters, offers tours at 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Historic Speedwell runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and closes at 4 p.m.
If you are making a day of it, the Mount Tabor House Tour in Parsippany opens more than 15 Victorian cottages the same afternoon.
Saturday Fireworks: Postponed
A Sanofi-sponsored fireworks display was planned for Saturday after sundown over downtown Morristown. It has been postponed because of the weather forecast. We will update this post if a new date is announced.
Sunday, September 27: The History Corridor at the Festival on the Green
The weekend wraps up at the Morristown Festival on the Green, where a special History Corridor brings together Morris County’s historical organizations from noon to 5 p.m. Stop by to meet the groups that care for the county’s historic sites and learn about the people and places that shaped Morris County and the nation.

- Weather: A nor’easter may bring rain. Confirm outdoor programs before you go.
