A new flower shop and boutique is now open in downtown Madison. The Market House, at 62 Main Street, celebrated its grand opening on Thursday, September 24, 2026, bringing fresh flowers, gifts, home decor and clothing under one roof, with floral and art workshops on the way this fall.
The Market House is a mother and daughter business. One of the co-owners told us she and her mom had talked about starting a business together for a long time before deciding this past spring to take the leap. “We both love to shop and really enjoy shopping together but we often have a hard time finding a store that fits both of our needs (or our wants!),” she said. “The Market House is our way of combining our interests. It is truly an extension of the both of us.”
That mix shows up on the shelves, which she describes as a blend of classic pieces and fun, artsy ones. On the floral side, the shop plans to keep plenty of grab and go arrangements on hand this season, along with floral events. The boutique side carries home decor, elevated gifts, tableware and clothing. Asked which fall pieces she is most excited about, she could not narrow it down, saying new boxes are still being unpacked and every one brings a surprise. “Every item is just fun and beautiful and different, I couldn’t possibly choose!”
As for why Madison, the answer was easy. “We chose Madison because it is such a happy, beautiful town,” she said. “I love the community here and we are just so excited to be a small part of it!” The shop joins a downtown that has had a busy month, including a Nicole Kidman production spotted filming outside Forum Coffee.
The grand opening came with refreshments, giveaways and shopping perks. The only special guests on the list were the co-owner’s two young sons, due to stop in after school.
Workshops are a big part of the plan. The Market House is finalizing a fall calendar that will include painting events and floral arranging classes, and dates will be posted on the shop’s Instagram and on The Market House website once they are set.
The Market House is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The owners’ pitch to Morris County shoppers is simple. “Just come say hi!
