The Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority (MCMUA) is pleased to announce four free Household Hazardous Waste Collection events in 2025. These events provide residents with an opportunity to dispose of hazardous materials responsibly. All events will take place from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the following locations:
- Saturday, May 17: Jefferson Township DPW, 1033 Weldon Road, Lake Hopatcong, NJ
- Saturday, June 21: Chatham High School, 255 Lafayette Avenue, Chatham, NJ
- Saturday, September 20: Pequannock Valley Park, Marvin Road, Pompton Plains, NJ
- Saturday, November 8: County College of Morris, Parking Lot #1, 214 Center Grove Road, Randolph, NJ
Accepted Items for Collection
Residents are encouraged to bring the following items for safe and environmentally friendly disposal:
- Pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers
- Oil-based paints, stains, and paint thinners/removers
- Automotive fluids and solvents
- Lead-acid and rechargeable batteries
- Pool chemicals and darkroom chemicals
- Aerosol cans (non-empty)
- Propane and helium cylinders
- Asbestos (maximum 100 pounds, wetted, double-bagged, and sealed with duct tape)
- Driveway sealant and roofing tar
- Fluorescent bulbs and PCB ballasts
- Mercury thermometers and switches
- Household cleaning supplies
- Muriatic acid
