Update, September 19, 2026: Downtown Denville has cancelled this year’s Fall Festival. The free street festival was set to close Broadway on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Organizers announced the cancellation on the Downtown Denville Instagram account, pointing to the forecasted weather. “We’re sorry for the change of plans. Thank you for understanding,” the notice read.
Why the festival was called off
The National Weather Service forecast for Denville on Sunday calls for showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 5 p.m., and a 100 percent chance of precipitation. Rainfall of a quarter to half an inch is possible, with a high near 67 degrees. The Fall Festival is an outdoor event staged on a closed street, with vendors, live music and games set up in the open along Broadway.
Is there a rain date
The cancellation notice did not include a rain date or a rescheduled date. Downtown Denville posts updates through its event page and its social channels, and we will update this article if a new date is announced.
What had been planned
The second annual Downtown Denville Fall Festival was scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. along Broadway, with the street closed to traffic for the day. Organizers had lined up live music, seasonal food, games and pumpkins, with the downtown shops and restaurants open all day, and admission was free. The festival debuted in 2025 and is run by Downtown Denville, the borough’s business district, as a way to draw residents and visitors into the shopping and dining corridor as the season turns.
Downtown Denville is still open on Sunday
Broadway will be open to traffic as usual, so there are no street closures or detours to plan around this Sunday. The shops and restaurants along the block are not affected by the cancellation, and Denville’s walkable downtown is still an easy stop for a rainy Sunday afternoon.
If the Fall Festival was your plan for the weekend, there is still a full slate of fall festivals and fairs across Morris County to pick from, plus the rest of the weekend lineup.
