SubscribeTrader Joe’s is coming to Parsippany. That part is settled. The company confirmed it directly, which means the rumor that bounced around Morris County for most of the spring is now fact.
What is not settled is where, exactly, and when. Trader Joe’s has said almost nothing beyond confirming the town, and the chain is famously tight-lipped about new stores until a lease is fully baked and a sign is about to go up. So here is a clear accounting of what is actually known, what is strongly reported but unconfirmed, and what nobody can answer yet.
What has been confirmed
In June 2026, a Trader Joe’s spokesperson confirmed that the grocer will open a Parsippany location. In the same breath, the company said it had no address and no opening timeline to share.
That is the entire official record. One town, no address, no date. It is worth being precise about that, because a confirmed store and a confirmed opening are two very different things, and Trader Joe’s has sat on announced locations for a year or more before turning on the lights.
Why everyone is pointing at Route 46
Every credible thread leads to the Morris Hills Shopping Center on Route 46.
The center went before the Parsippany-Troy Hills Planning Board with an application to renovate a run of vacant storefronts and rework the parking lot. That application anticipated roughly five new tenants, including a retailer and three restaurants, and referenced a grocer that had already signed on. The timing lined up almost exactly with the Trader Joe’s confirmation.
None of that is Trader Joe’s saying the words out loud. But a shopping center with a large empty box, a fresh site plan, an anchor-sized grocery tenant already signed, and a confirmed Trader Joe’s landing in the same township is about as strong as an unconfirmed report gets.
This would be the third Trader Joe’s in Morris County
Morris County already has two: Denville and Florham Park. Both get busy, and both draw from well outside their own towns.
A Parsippany store would change the map in a real way. Parsippany-Troy Hills is the largest municipality in the county by population, and the Route 46 corridor pulls traffic from Montville, Boonton, Mountain Lakes, Morris Plains, Lake Hiawatha and Cedar Knolls. For a lot of those households the current drive is to Denville, which is fine, or to Florham Park, which is not.
It also lands in a stretch of Parsippany that has been in motion for a while. Topgolf opened on Route 46, and District 15Fifteen on Route 10 has been signing restaurant and wellness tenants. Whatever else is true about the township, its retail is not standing still.
What is still unknown
Three things, and none of them are small.
The address. Trader Joe’s has not named one. Morris Hills Shopping Center is the reported site, not the announced site.
The opening date. There is no timeline, official or otherwise. Trader Joe’s typically posts a store to its own website only when it is close, usually weeks out rather than months.
The build-out. A grocery store is not a quick fit-out. Refrigeration, loading and a full interior conversion take time even after permits clear, which is why announced stores routinely take a year or more to open.
How to know first
The most reliable early signal is the Trader Joe’s website itself. The company lists upcoming stores with addresses once it is ready to commit, and hiring notices for a new location usually appear a month or two before the doors open. Township planning board agendas are the other tell, since any signage or interior work has to move through Parsippany-Troy Hills first.

In the meantime the two existing Morris County stores are still the closest options: Denville at 3130 Route 10 West and Florham Park at 186 Columbia Turnpike. And if you are stocking a kitchen the old-fashioned way, the county’s farmers markets are running through the fall.
