The soccer team training in Morris County takes the big stage this weekend. Brazil opens its 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign against Morocco on Saturday, June 13 at 6 p.m. at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, the first of eight World Cup matches the stadium will host this summer.
And the five-time World Cup champion is calling Morris County home for the tournament. As we covered earlier this week, Brazil set up its official base camp at the Columbia Park Training Facility in Morris Township, the New York Red Bulls’ new 80-acre performance center. The squad arrived in Morris Township on Monday, with helicopters overhead and fans lining Columbia Turnpike to catch a glimpse of one of the most famous teams in world soccer.
Saturday’s match is the Group C opener for both sides, and it is a heavyweight matchup. Morocco reached the semifinals at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and is ranked among the top teams in the world. Brazil, led by head coach Carlo Ancelotti, named a 26-man squad that includes Neymar, the country’s all-time leading goal scorer. Doors at MetLife Stadium open at 3 p.m., and the match airs on FS1, Telemundo, and Peacock for anyone watching from home.
Group C also includes Haiti and Scotland. After Saturday, Brazil travels to Philadelphia to face Haiti on June 19 and to Miami to play Scotland on June 24, returning to its Morris Township training base between matches.
Whether you grab a ticket, watch from a local bar, or just keep an eye out for team buses around Morris Township, Morris County has a front row seat to the World Cup this summer.
