The Florham Park Public Library is bringing back Second Sundays, its free afternoon series of live music and lectures, with a new lineup that starts on Sunday, September 13, 2026. The hour-long programs run at 2 p.m. on the second Sunday of the month at the library at 107 Ridgedale Avenue, and every one of them is free to attend.
The season opens on September 13 with Johnny Kasun’s Jim Croce Tribute, a set built around the catalog of one of America’s most enduring singer-songwriters. Kasun performs acoustic arrangements modeled on Croce’s original recordings, with storytelling between the songs and harmonies behind them. The set pulls from the material most people already know by heart, including “Operator,” “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown,” “I Got a Name,” and “Time in a Bottle.”
On Sunday, October 11, 2026, the series turns to classic rock with Briz, who performs solo on acoustic guitar and harmonica. Beyond the rock catalog, Briz is known for vocal impressions of Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, and Bob Dylan, which turn the afternoon into part concert and part guessing game.
The fall run closes on Sunday, November 8, 2026, with a program on the history and the music behind the Broadway musical Hamilton. It looks at the real people and events the show draws from, including Alexander Hamilton’s work as the nation’s first Secretary of the Treasury, his role in building the American financial system, and his death in a duel with Vice President Aaron Burr. Video clips of performances are part of the presentation.
Second Sundays has been a fixture on the library calendar for years, running monthly from September through April. The programs are built for adults, though all ages are welcome. Dates past November continue on the second Sunday of each month through April, and the library posts each program to its events calendar once it is confirmed.
Every program is free thanks to the Friends of the Florham Park Public Library, the volunteer group that underwrites library programming and the museum pass collection that gets cardholders into area cultural institutions at no cost.
Seating is limited, so registration is requested, and it runs through the library’s events calendar. The library can be reached at 973-377-2694 with questions, and it is closed Saturday through Monday, September 5 to 7, for Labor Day weekend before the season begins.
Florham Park keeps a busy free-music calendar all year. The borough’s Gazebo Concert Series wrapped its 46th outdoor season on August 9, and Second Sundays picks the music back up indoors next month.
