The Morris County Clerk’s Office has launched a virtual artificial intelligence assistant on its website, and the office believes it is the first county clerk’s office in New Jersey to put a resident-facing A.I. tool in front of the public.
County Clerk Ann F. Grossi, Esq. announced the launch on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. The assistant runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week at morriscountyclerk.org, and it answers questions about the services the office handles every day: passports, property records, elections, business registrations, notary services, and veterans’ records.
That list covers most of the reasons a resident picks up the phone or drives to the Administration and Records Building at 10 Court Street in Morristown. Someone who needs to know which documents to bring to a passport appointment, how to search a deed, or where to file a trade name can now type the question at 11 p.m. on a Sunday instead of waiting for business hours. The chat window opens on the Clerk’s website, and the county says the tool is meant to cut down on wait times and phone tag.
“Our mission has always been to make government more accessible and responsive to the people we serve,” Grossi said in the announcement. “This technology allows us to provide information quickly while continuing to deliver the personal service our residents expect. Whether someone needs a passport, is searching property records, or has questions about elections, they deserve quick, reliable access to information. This new assistant helps us deliver exactly that.”
The Clerk’s Office worked with two outside partners to plan, build, and launch the system: TechForGov, a government technology company that develops A.I. platforms for public agencies, and Arlington Analytics, a consulting firm that helps public sector organizations adopt emerging technology.
“Harnessing artificial intelligence in local government is about improving the resident experience,” said Himanshu Goil, founder and chief executive officer of TechForGov. “We are honored to partner with the Morris County Clerk’s Office on this innovative initiative.”
“This initiative demonstrates how artificial intelligence can enhance, not replace, public service by making government more accessible, more responsive, and more efficient,” said Michael Stanzilis, chief executive officer of Arlington Analytics. “Morris County is setting an example that other county governments throughout New Jersey, and beyond, can follow as they embrace responsible innovation.”
The office was clear that the assistant is built to complement its staff, not stand in for them. Residents who would rather talk to a person can still call (973) 285-6120 or visit the counter in person, and complicated requests still land with a clerk.
