Main Street in Madison already knows how to feed a crowd. What it did not have was a modern Indian restaurant, and that is exactly what is now open at 143 Main Street. NEER is a new fine dining BYOB that brings modern Indian cooking to Madison, built around traditional clay oven techniques, house spice blends and a menu designed for both discovery and familiarity.

The name NEER comes from the Sanskrit word for water, reflecting the restaurant’s philosophy of purity, balance and hospitality. Traditional Indian recipes and house spice blends form the foundation, while modern presentation and a lighter touch give the menu its own identity. NEER builds on the culinary experience behind Jalwa Modern Indian Dining while creating a distinct identity for Madison.

What to Order at Madison’s New Indian Restaurant

Two dishes do most of the talking. The Pandara Road Wala Butter Chicken draws inspiration from Delhi’s celebrated Pandara Road restaurants, delivering the richness guests expect while remaining balanced and deeply aromatic. The Giant Naan is the other, and it is the reason phones come out before forks do.

Past those, the featured list is a good roadmap: NEER Lamb Chops, Lamb Rogan Josh, Methi Machli, and Paneer Tikka Masala. The tandoori section is deep, with marinated chicken, lamb, seafood and vegetarian specialties all coming out of the clay oven, so a table can split smoky skewers and a curry without anyone compromising.

A BYOB Indian Restaurant Built for a Night Out

NEER is set up as an elevated BYOB, which in Morris County is a real advantage. Bring the bottle you want, keep the check reasonable, and still get a dining room that holds up for a date night, a family dinner, a business meal or a private celebration.
