Boonton Parks and Recreation is adding an after dark stop to the town’s Halloween lineup. The Haunted Trail, subtitled The Curse of Grace Lord Park, runs on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 7 to 9 PM, with a rain date of Sunday, October 25.
Entry is at the Plane Street trail entrance by the Department of Public Works yard, and the walk ends inside Grace Lord Park. Admission is $3 per person, collected at the entry, cash only. There is no advance registration and no online ticket, so bring small bills.
Organizers describe an eerie path winding through shadowy trees with spirits lurking around every corner, and they are direct about who it is built for. The trail is not recommended for small children, and anyone under 16 has to be accompanied by an adult. This is the scary version of Halloween in Boonton, not the candy version.
The candy version has its own night one week earlier. The Boonton Parks and Recreation Trick or Treat Trail returns to the same park on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 6 to 8 PM. The park stays closed until the event opens at 6 PM, admission is one large bag of factory sealed candy per person entering, and no pets are permitted. Families who want the friendly version have that date, and everyone who wants the version with jump scares has October 24.
Grace Lord Park sits at West Main Street and Essex Avenue in Boonton and covers the wooded stretch along the Rockaway River below Main Street. Its features include a gazebo, a playground, and the trail network the event uses, which is the reason the town can run a walk through course here at all. The park is a short walk from the Main Street business district, so dinner before or after is easy to work in.
