The annual Hunger Walk returns this April with a new addition: the first-ever Hunger Run 5K Race. The event, organized to support individuals and families experiencing food insecurity in Morris County, will take place at the County College of Morris in Randolph.
Participants in the 5K will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the traditional Hunger Walk at 12:00 PM. The event is open to all ages and offers opportunities for individuals and teams to register for free, create fundraising pages, and contribute to ongoing efforts to address hunger in the local community.
In addition to the walk and run, the day will include food, ice cream, music, face painting, and interactive educational activities related to food insecurity. Students who participate or volunteer can earn four or more community service hours.
The event supports programs that provide an average of 800 meals daily to needy residents. According to organizers, one in three families in Morris County currently struggles to afford basic necessities.
