The CARE Center of New Jersey (CCNJ), part of IMPACT Community Development Corporation and the nonprofit arm of Christ Church, has opened a brand-new food pantry called Food for HOPE. This marks the first major step in a $30 million project to support families across the state.
The CCNJ building, which covers 130,000 square feet, is being fully renovated to become a vital place for local support.
At the grand opening of the 10,000-square-foot food pantry, community leaders and supporters came together to celebrate. Guests included Senator Britnee N. Timberlake, Mayor Dodd of Dover, Mayor Wilsusen of Jefferson Township, Mayor Joe Jackson of Rockaway Township, and Elizabeth McCarthy, President and CEO of the Community Food Bank of New Jersey. The ribbon-cutting was led by Dr. David Ireland, founder of the CARE Center and lead pastor of Christ Church, joined by Mayor Jackson.
Food for HOPE is expected to serve up to 500 families each month. Visitors will be able to stop by twice a month to receive fresh fruits and vegetables, canned goods, bread, meat, and more.
To reach even more people, a fleet of mobile food units is ready to go. These include a 24-foot refrigerated truck, a refrigerated van, and a pickup truck, which will bring food directly to communities in need across New Jersey.
The State of New Jersey has already given $1,025,000 to support this effort, and Christ Church has committed $10 million. The team behind the project is still raising funds with a clear plan:
- $10 million from supporters
- $15 million through grants
- A $5 million loan if needed

This food pantry is just the beginning. Once fully renovated, the CARE Center will offer many other programs to help families dealing with food insecurity and other tough situations.
Christ Church, which has several campuses across Northern New Jersey, is also behind the Tri-County Fair, happening June 12–15, 2025. The event will bring the community together and support these ongoing outreach efforts.
