Lurker Park is East Hanover’s main town park and one of the busiest event fields in eastern Morris County. Officially named Joseph G. Lurker Park, it sits at 631 Ridgedale Avenue and is where East Hanover goes for youth baseball and soccer, the spring carnival, the summer food truck festival and fireworks, and free Tuesday night concerts in July. Here is what is at the park, where to park, and the events worth planning around.
Where Is Lurker Park?
Lurker Park is at 631 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ 07936, near the intersection with Eagle Rock Avenue. It is a short drive from Route 10 and Route 24, which makes it easy to reach from Whippany, Florham Park, Hanover Township and Livingston. The park has its own parking lots, and on big event nights the township and event organizers typically direct overflow parking nearby, so arrive early for the carnival and the fireworks.
What Is at Lurker Park
- Baseball and softball diamonds. Lurker Park has hosted baseball for decades, including American Legion tournaments in the 1970s and 1980s, and it is still home base for East Hanover youth baseball.
- A turf soccer field used for youth soccer and recreation programs.
- Basketball courts and bocce for pickup games.
- Walking paths around the fields, popular with walkers and families with strollers.
- Restrooms and open lawn space, which is why the park works so well for big community events.
The township has also applied to the state Green Acres program to add new bocce courts and four lit pickleball courts at Lurker Park. Until those open, see our guide to where to play pickleball in Morris County.
