Morris County does summer music better than just about anywhere in New Jersey, and nearly all of it is free. From village gazebos and lakeside bandshells to a municipal beach on Lake Hopatcong, at least 15 towns run their own free outdoor concert series between June and the end of August. This guide pulls all of them into one place, organized by town, with the venue, the night of the week, the start time, and when each season wraps up.
Every series below was checked against the town’s own website or recreation department listing as of July 20, 2026. Most shows are weather permitting with no built in rain date, so it is worth a quick look at the town’s page before you load up the car. Seating is almost never provided, so bring a lawn chair or a blanket. Admission and parking are free at all of them.
Denville: Music in the Park
Denville’s Music in the Park plays Tuesday nights from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Gardner Field bandstand, 2 Savage Road. The 2026 season opened July 14 and runs through August 25, with shows on July 21, July 28, August 11, August 18, and August 25 still to come. East Hanover: Lurker Park
East Hanover Township runs a short and sweet four week series at Lurker Park on Tuesday nights at 7 p.m. The 2026 season started July 7 and finishes July 28, so there is only one show left. Florham Park: The Gazebo Concert Series
Now in its 46th season, the Florham Park Gazebo Concert Series is one of the longest running free music traditions in the county. Concerts are Sunday nights at 7 p.m. on the Great Lawn at the borough complex, 111 Ridgedale Avenue. The 2026 season began June 7 and closes out August 9. Hanover Township: Monday Nights in Whippany
Hanover Township Recreation hosts free Monday night concerts at Brickyard Field, 111 Reynolds Avenue in Whippany, running from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The 2026 season started July 6 and ends July 27, so this one is down to its final stretch. Jefferson Township: The Gazebo in Oak Ridge
The Jefferson Arts Committee presents free Friday night concerts at the township gazebo, 1033 Weldon Road in Oak Ridge, starting at 6:30 p.m. and running until about 9. The 2026 season opened June 26 and closes August 21. Admission and parking are both free, and a free will donation is appreciated. Long Hill Township: Dog Days of Summer
Long Hill Township’s Dog Days of Summer series takes over Matthew G. Kantor Memorial Park, 917 Valley Road in Gillette, on Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. The 2026 season runs through August 13. Read our Dog Days of Summer guide, or check the township’s series page.
Montville Township: The Amphitheater
Montville Township Recreation books nine free Wednesday night shows at the amphitheater in Montville Community Park, 195 Changebridge Road, from 7 to 9 p.m. The 2026 season started July 1 and runs all the way to August 26, making it one of the longest schedules in the county. Morris Plains: Roberts Garden
Morris Plains keeps things intimate with Sunday evening concerts from 6 to 8 p.m. at Roberts Garden, at the corner of Glenbrook Road and Mountain Way. Morris Township: The Ginty Field Gazebo
Morris Township programs seven Tuesday night concerts at the Ginty Field Gazebo on Woodland Avenue, generally starting at 7 p.m. The 2026 season opened June 23 and runs through August 11. Mount Arlington: The Municipal Beach
Mount Arlington has the best setting of any concert on this list. The borough puts on free shows right on the Municipal Beach on Lake Hopatcong from 6 to 8 p.m., spaced roughly one per month rather than weekly. Netcong: Concerts in the Park
Netcong’s Concerts in the Park series brings free Friday night music to DiRenzo Park on Dell Avenue, typically from 7 to 9 p.m., though the borough has shifted a start time or two this season. Parsippany-Troy Hills: Veterans Memorial Park
Parsippany’s free summer concert series is at Veterans Memorial Park, 1839 Route 46, with a 6 p.m. start and food trucks on site. The 2026 series opened Thursday, July 16. Unlike most towns, Parsippany does not lock the series to a single weeknight, so check the date before you go. Rockaway Township: The Park Lake Gazebo
Rockaway Township runs the only major afternoon series in the county. Concerts are Sunday afternoons from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Park Lake Gazebo, 8 Mount Hope Road, every Sunday in July and August through August 30. Roxbury: The Horseshoe Lake Bandshell
The Roxbury Arts Alliance presents free Thursday night concerts at the bandshell in the Horseshoe Lake complex, 72 Eyland Avenue in Succasunna, starting at 6:30 p.m. The 2026 run is July 9 through July 30, so two shows remain. Wharton: Betty Poyer Field
Wharton hosts free Friday evening concerts at Betty Poyer Field, at the corner of West Central Avenue and West Dewey Avenue, with a 6 p.m. start. Dates are spread across the summer rather than running every single week, so the borough calendar is the place to confirm. If you are trying to catch a few before the season closes, go in this order. Morris Plains finishes July 26, Hanover Township finishes July 27, East Hanover finishes July 28, and Roxbury finishes July 30. Florham Park closes August 9, Morris Township August 11, Long Hill August 13, Jefferson Township August 21, Denville August 25, Montville August 26, and Rockaway Township August 30. Mount Arlington, Netcong, Parsippany, and Wharton all run on schedules that shift week to week, so confirm those dates directly with the town.
One more free music day worth circling

Worth noting for anyone searching for outdoor concerts in Morristown: the Morris Museum’s Back Deck series at 6 Normandy Heights Road runs from June into September, but unlike everything else on this page it is ticketed rather than free, so budget accordingly.
