Some of the best summer nights in Morris Plains happen on a lawn, with a folding chair and live music drifting across Roberts Garden. The borough’s free July Summer Concert Series is back for the season, and there are still three shows left to catch before the month is out.
The Morris Plains Recreation Commission hosts the concerts at Roberts Garden from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and every show is free and open to the public. The season opener with the Moon Dogs was postponed after a recent storm moved through the area, but the rest of the lineup is set and ready to go.
Three free shows still to come
The series picks back up on Sunday, July 12, with London Calling, a Beatles tribute band that runs through the songs that made the Fab Four famous. The rain date is Monday, July 13.
On Saturday, July 18, The Kootz Band takes the lawn with a set of party favorites and dance-floor classics, with a rain date of Sunday, July 19. The series then closes out on Sunday, July 26, with Delirious XM, followed by a rain date of Monday, July 27.
What to know before you go
All of the concerts are held at Roberts Garden, and the borough keeps the setup simple: bring your friends, a favorite drink, and your own lawn chair. There is no admission charge, and the 6 p.m. start time makes it an easy evening out for families.
Full details and any weather updates are posted on the Morris Plains Recreation events page and the borough’s summer concerts page.
