Mendham Borough is closing out its free summer of live music with one of its biggest nights yet. The Mendham Borough Recreation Department caps its 2026 Sunday Summer Concert Series on Sunday, August 23, with a set from Grateful Dead cover band This Old Engine at the gazebo in Borough Park. The finale runs an extended 5 to 8 p.m., admission is free, and the whole park is open, so bring a blanket or a couple of lawn chairs and settle in.

The last show of the season is set for Sunday, August 23, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Borough Park. That is a longer window than the rest of the series, which played from 6:30 to 8 p.m., so families get a full evening of Grateful Dead classics to send summer off. If the weather does not cooperate, the borough has a rain date locked in for the following Sunday, August 30.
This Old Engine works through the Dead songbook, the kind of easygoing, sing-along catalog that fits a warm night on the grass. It is a fitting closer for a series that leaned on crowd-pleasing local bands all summer.
Where to go and where to park
The concert takes place at the gazebo inside Borough Park, which sits in the heart of Mendham between Mountain Avenue, Park Avenue, and Orchard Street. Parking is available near the Carriage House at 11 Park Avenue, or over by the playground, basketball courts, and turf fields at 8 Orchard Street. The park also has a playground and open space if you are bringing kids who want to run around between songs.
A summer-long tradition, presented with local backing
The Sunday Summer Concert Series has been a warm-weather staple in Mendham, and the 2026 run opened big. Carnaby Street kicked things off on June 28 with a 60s pop set doubling as an America 250 celebration, followed by Catz N’ Dawgs on July 12 and The Cowboy & Hippy on July 19. The series is supported by the Mendham Business Association and Mendham Mathnasium, a reminder of how much these free town nights lean on local partners to happen at all.
