October is trophy month in Morris County. Over a few short weeks, the Morris County Tournament crowned its fall champions on fields, courts and courses from Boonton to Roxbury, and this year the hardware got spread around. A few dynasties kept rolling, one long streak finally ended, and a couple of programs celebrated titles they had been chasing for close to a decade.
Here is every county champion we could confirm from the fall 2026 season, plus one bonus win for the younger runners in Parsippany. Congratulations to every athlete, coach and parent who spent their Saturdays in the bleachers.
1. Chatham field hockey, Chatham
The No. 5 seed Chatham Cougars beat Madison 2-1 in the Morris County Tournament final on Tuesday, October 27, at Boonton High School. Madison came in as the No. 17 seed chasing a third straight county crown, and Chatham shut the door to win its first field hockey title since 2023. It is one of the great rivalries in county sports, and this one lived up to it.
Final: Chatham 2, Madison 1
2. Chatham girls soccer, Chatham
Make it six in a row. Chatham girls soccer beat West Morris 2-0 in the county final at Roxbury High School in Succasunna to win its sixth straight Morris County Tournament title. A late goal and a clean sheet from the back line sealed it, and the streak now stretches back to 2021.
Final: Chatham 2, West Morris 0
3. Delbarton boys soccer, Morris Township
Delbarton is back on top. The Green Wave shut out Randolph 3-0 in the boys final on Saturday, October 24, at Roxbury, for the program’s 16th Morris County Tournament title. Two quick goals inside two minutes broke the game open. Follow the team at Delbarton Athletics.
Final: Delbarton 3, Randolph 0
4. Mount Olive girls volleyball, Mount Olive
Mount Olive ended a nine year wait. The No. 2 seed Marauders swept defending champion Randolph 25-13, 25-11, 25-17 in the final on Friday, October 16, for their first county volleyball title since 2017. Two powerful outside hitters set the tone from the first serve.
Final: Mount Olive def. Randolph, 3 sets to 0
5. Mendham girls tennis, Mendham
This was the upset of the fall. West Morris Mendham won the Morris County girls tennis tournament, which wrapped up on October 9 at Mountain Lakes, ending Chatham’s remarkable 12 year run as champion. It is Mendham’s first county tennis title since the Minutemen went back to back in 2011 and 2012.
6. Mendham boys cross country, Mendham
Mendham made it a double. The boys cross country team won the Morris County Championships on Tuesday, October 20, at Central Park of Morris County in Morris Plains, scoring 113 points to take the team title. Depth won the day, with the pack running together on the hilly Greystone course. A Mountain Lakes sophomore took the individual race in 16:02.97. Full results are posted on the MileSplit meet page.
7. Montville girls cross country, Montville
On the same afternoon, Montville won the girls team title with 95 points, and a Montville runner also won the girls individual race in 18:32.34. That is a clean sweep of the top honors for the Mustangs and a sign of a new era in county cross country.
8. Brooklawn Middle School cross country, Parsippany
The future looks bright in Parsippany. At the Greater Morris County Junior School cross country championships on Thursday, October 29, at Central Park in Morris Plains, the Brooklawn boys and girls both won the Group 3 team titles, and Parsippany’s Central Middle School boys finished second. That is a near total sweep for one township. The meet was hosted by Randolph High School.
