Mount Arlington is marking America’s 250th birthday with an afternoon built around the lakeside borough’s own story. On Saturday, July 11, 2026, the Borough of Mount Arlington invites residents and visitors to walk through local history at Memorial Park and then head down to Lake Hopatcong for a free concert on the beach. It is a relaxed, family-friendly way to celebrate the country’s milestone while honoring a town that has been part of the area’s story since the Revolutionary War era.

Step Back in Time at Memorial Park

From 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Memorial Park will host activity booths and a history walk-through that traces Mount Arlington from the Revolutionary War all the way to the present day. The journey is designed to show how the small borough on Lake Hopatcong has changed across the centuries, giving families a hands-on way to connect with the place they call home. Admission is free and the booths are open to all ages.

A Free Beach Concert to Close the Day

The celebration moves to the water from 4 to 7 p.m. with a concert at the Municipal Beach, the Arthur Ondish Memorial Beach on Lake Hopatcong. Headlining is the Garrett Gardner Trio, fronted by New Jersey singer Garrett Gardner, who earned national attention as a Top 12 finalist on Season 4 of NBC’s The Voice. The beach is one of the best seats on the lake, the same Municipal Beach that hosts the Lake Hopatcong fireworks each summer. Bring a blanket or a chair and settle in for the evening.

What to Know Before You Go

The event is free and open to the public. The history walk-through and activity booths run from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Memorial Park, and the concert runs from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Municipal Beach. Residents with questions can reach Acting Clerk Ashley Todd at atodd@mtarlingtonboro.com or 973-398-6832, ext. 112.
