When the weather turns, there is nothing better than a steaming bowl of pho. Morris County has a small but serious Vietnamese food scene, with most of it clustered along Parsippany’s Route 46 corridor and Route 10 through East Hanover and Morris Plains. Here are the spots our team sends people to for pho, bun, banh mi and Vietnamese iced coffee.
Pho Ninh Kieu (Parsippany)
Tucked on New Road in Parsippany, Pho Ninh Kieu is one of the most reviewed Vietnamese restaurants in the county, with well over a thousand Google reviews and a rating north of 4.5 stars. Come for the pho bo, then add fresh spring rolls or a bun vermicelli bowl for the table. Dine in or take out.

Pho Binh Duong (Parsippany)
A Route 46 regular with a deep menu. The house combination pho and the rare eye of round pho are the go-to bowls, and the grilled lemongrass short ribs, shaking beef and grilled pork with egg rolls over vermicelli are worth a second visit. Finish with a Vietnamese coffee.

Saigon Pho (East Hanover)
Pho is the main event at Saigon Pho on Route 10, served with the herbs, lime and peppers on the side so you can build your bowl the way you like it. Regulars also go for the grilled lemongrass chicken, bun bo Hue and shrimp vermicelli.

OoLaLa! Pho and Banh Mi (Morris Plains)
A modern, casual spot on Route 10 East. The OoLaLa! Special Pho loads rare beef, brisket, beef meatballs and shank into spiced beef broth, and there is a spicy lemongrass pho and a chicken curry pho for something different. As the name says, the banh mi is the other reason to stop in.

Saigon Subs and Café (Morristown)
Morristown’s banh mi headquarters. Saigon Subs and Café on Elm Street is built around traditional banh mi, backed up by summer rolls, bubble tea and Vietnamese drip coffee. An easy lunch if you are working or shopping downtown.

What to Order If You Are New to Vietnamese Food
- Pho tai: beef noodle soup with thin slices of rare eye of round that cook in the hot broth. Add basil, bean sprouts, lime and jalapeño to taste.
- Bun: a room temperature bowl of rice vermicelli with grilled meat, herbs, lettuce and fish sauce dressing. Great when you want something lighter.
- Bun bo Hue: a spicy, lemongrass-heavy beef noodle soup from central Vietnam, for anyone who likes heat.
- Banh mi: the classic Vietnamese sandwich on a light baguette with pickled carrot and daikon, cilantro and chilies.
