Morris County may be landlocked, but its seafood scene runs deep. From a fish market that has been filleting the day’s catch since 1951 to raw bars, sushi counters, and full Cajun boils, here are the seafood spots our team keeps going back to across the county, and what makes each one worth the drive. Hours shift with the season, so it is smart to call ahead or check online before you go.

Denville Seafood, Denville

Denville Seafood at 61 Broadway has been family run since 1951, and it is two things at once: a fresh fish market that sources from the Fulton Fish Market daily, and Codmothers Cafe, a small BYO dining room next door. Come for fried flounder, a lobster roll, or a pound of whatever came in that morning. It is closed Sunday and Monday, so plan a Tuesday through Saturday visit. It sits right among the rest of the best restaurants in Denville.

Rod’s Steak and Seafood Grille, Morristown

A Convent Station landmark since 1951, Rod’s pairs prime steaks with fresh seafood inside restored vintage railroad dining cars at 1 Convent Road. Sea scallops, crab cakes, and the raw bar keep regulars coming back, and the Sunday brunch is a local institution. Reservations are a good idea.

Blue Morel, Morristown

Set inside the Westin Governor Morris at 2 Whippany Road, Blue Morel runs a full raw bar and sushi program alongside dishes like Chilean sea bass and crab cakes. Oysters and shrimp on the half shell, a deep wine list, and a polished room make it a reliable date-night pick.

Barka Mediterranean Seafood and Steak, Mountain Lakes

Barka brings a Mediterranean lens to seafood at 60 Route 46 in Mountain Lakes. Expect a raw bar, grilled octopus, whole branzino, and big steaks in a sleek room, plus a well-regarded prix-fixe lunch and happy hour. It is open daily.

Mr. Crabby’s Seafood House and Sports Bar, Randolph

For a hands-on seafood boil, Mr. Crabby’s at 399 Route 10 East in Randolph piles crab legs, shrimp, and corn into signature Cajun sauces, with big screens and a full bar. It is closed Mondays. Come hungry and wear a bib.

Rails Steakhouse, Towaco

Set in a restored station building at 10 Whitehall Road in Towaco, Rails is a Montville steakhouse with a notable and affordable raw bar. Oysters, clams, and shrimp make an easy start before the steaks and short ribs. It is closed Mondays, and it also lands on our list of the best steakhouses in Morris County.

Galapagos Restaurant, Morristown

For Ecuadorian seafood, Galapagos at 98 Speedwell Avenue in Morristown turns out ceviche mixto, seafood soups, and citrus-marinated fish at a friendly price. It is a quick, casual counterpoint to the county’s fine-dining rooms and one more reason Morristown has such a deep dining scene.

Plan Your Next Seafood Run

Whether you want a fillet to cook at home, a dozen oysters on the half shell, or a full Cajun boil, Morris County covers it. Save this guide for the next time a seafood craving hits, and double-check each spot’s hours before you head out.
