Denville calls itself the Hub of Morris County, and a big part of what keeps the hub turning is the group of nonprofits, churches and volunteer clubs that house young adults, support neighbors with disabilities, fund families facing cancer and keep the library busy every day of the week. Our team at Shop Morris County rounded up 9 Denville nonprofits and community groups worth knowing, supporting and volunteering with this season.
Every detail below comes from each group’s own website, so follow the links to donate, sign up or lend a hand.
1. Avidd Community Services

Avidd Community Services of NJ has provided community-based services for people with developmental disabilities since 1986, from its office at 92 Broadway in Denville. It runs 17 community residences across Bergen, Morris and Somerset counties, plus supported employment, transition services for students and a full recreation calendar with bingo, dances, movie nights and horseback riding. Avidd welcomes volunteers at its homes and events and accepts donations, matching gifts and even vehicle donations.
2. Roots & Wings

Roots & Wings was founded in 1999 and helps young adults aging out of foster care build independent lives. Its RISE program gives participants ages 18 to 24 a safe apartment, with rent and utilities covered, while they work, save and learn life skills over two to three years. The Denville-based 501(c)(3) is always looking for volunteers to get apartments move-in ready, help at events, pitch in at the office or share professional skills like tax prep and coaching.
3. Denville Public Library

The Denville Public Library at 121 Diamond Spring Road sets out to inspire, enlighten and engage the community. Beyond books, it offers ebooks and streaming through Libby and Hoopla, museum passes and in-person groups for Canasta, Mah Jongg, knitting, yoga and Dungeons and Dragons. Residents who want to give back can join the Friends of the Denville Library, which supports programs and runs a popular used book sale.
4. Celebrate the Children
Celebrate the Children is a New Jersey state-approved private school at 230 Diamond Spring Road for students ages 3 to 21 who have difficulties relating and communicating. Its programs follow the DIR model and run from a full-day Pre-K inclusion program through elementary, transition and after-school enrichment, plus parent trainings. The school’s CTC Comedy Night lands on Friday, November 13, 2026, in the CTC gym, with doors at 6:30 PM and the show at 7:30 PM.
5. Denville Community Church

Denville Community Church, known as The Church of the Open Door, traces its roots to a Methodist preacher on horseback in 1785. Today the church at 190 Diamond Spring Road runs a preschool that dates to 1948, sends members on the Appalachia Service Project and monthly Community FoodBank trips, and has hosted Boy Scouts for more than 90 years. Its quilters group has made nearly 1,500 quilts, and Sunday worship is at 9:30 AM.
6. The Leonard Foundation
The Leonard Foundation is a Denville 501(c)(3) created to help children and their families who are battling pediatric cancer. Led by Todd and Jane Leonard, the foundation also supports women’s shelters, food pantries and pediatric and pancreatic cancer foundations. Donations can be made online through its website.
7. Bible Fellowship Church of Denville

Its website lists Sunday coffee at 9:30 AM, Bible study at 9:45 AM and worship at 11 AM, plus a Tuesday evening Bible study and prayer meeting and a ladies’ Bible study on the first and third Saturdays. Visitors are welcome to stop in on a Sunday.
8. Resource Center for the Chemically Dependent
The Resource Center for the Chemically Dependent has been helping people since 1984 and runs the Morris County Aftercare Center at 273 East Main Street, which it calls the place where hope begins. The CARF-accredited center offers evidence-based treatment and recovery support, including counseling, psychiatry, telehealth and referrals, to help people restore stability and build meaningful lives. It is a reminder that recovery support is right here in town for anyone who needs it.
9. Cedar Lake Community Club

The Cedar Lake Community Club has brought Cedar Lake neighbors together since 1939 from its clubhouse at 134 Cedar Lake East. Run by an elected board of 18 trustees, the club hosts Friday pub nights, Hub Lakes league sports, tennis and pickleball, and a newsletter called The Blurb, while its Ladies Auxiliary organizes Santa visits, the Snow Ball and an Easter egg hunt.
