Diwali, the five-day Festival of Lights celebrated by Hindu, Sikh and Jain families, lands on Sunday, November 8, 2026. In Morris County, the celebrations center on Parsippany-Troy Hills, home to two Swaminarayan temples, a library that has hosted free Diwali celebrations, and Indian restaurants and sweet counters along Route 46.
This guide covers every Diwali celebration we can confirm in Morris County for 2026, plus the places that mark the holiday here every year. Temples and libraries usually post their Diwali dates a few weeks out, so we are updating this page as new Morris County events are announced.
Diwali Events in Morris County, 2026
Annual Diwali Function in Morris Plains, Sunday, October 18, 2026
Sruhadam Entertainment hosts its Annual Diwali Function on Sunday, October 18, 2026, from 5 to 11 p.m. at Parsippany Hills High School, 20 Rita Drive in Morris Plains. Expect traditional music, snacks and sweets, festive decorations and a long, family-friendly evening with friends. Tickets are sold on the event’s Eventbrite page, and all sales are final. So far it is the only public Diwali event in Morris County we could confirm for 2026.
Where Morris County Celebrates Diwali Every Year
BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Parsippany
The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir at 3 Entin Road in Parsippany holds a Diwali and Annakut celebration every fall; last year’s ran October 20 to 25, 2025. Annakut is the Hindu New Year offering that follows Diwali, when a spread of vegetarian dishes is presented before the deities. The mandir is open to the public every day of the year, Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to noon and 4 to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., with arti at 7:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. The 2026 Diwali schedule had not been posted when we published.
Shree Swaminarayan Temple (ISSO), Parsippany
The Shree Swaminarayan Temple of the International Swaminarayan Satsang Organization sits at 1699 Route 46 East in Parsippany and hosts Hindu festivals throughout the year for its congregation. Call the temple at 201-916-3752 for its 2026 Diwali and New Year program times.
ISKCON of New Jersey, Towaco
In Montville Township, ISKCON of New Jersey at 100 Jacksonville Road in Towaco has hosted free Diwali programs open to the public, and last year it closed out Kartik, the holy month that surrounds Diwali, with ghee lamps offered to Lord Damodara and a special feast. Check the temple’s events page in October for the 2026 dates.
Parsippany Library Diwali Celebration
The Parsippany-Troy Hills Free Public Library has hosted a free Diwali celebration in recent years. The 2024 edition at the Main Library, 449 Halsey Road, filled the building with music, dance, henna, crafts, games, a photo booth and food trucks, with attendance capped at 500 visitors. The library has not announced its 2026 date yet, so keep an eye on its events calendar in October.
Diwali Sweets and Dinner in Morris County
Diwali means mithai, and you do not have to leave the county for it. Chand Palace at 257 Littleton Road in Parsippany runs a pure vegetarian buffet with a chaat station and sweets, and Adyar Ananda Bhavan (A2B) in Parsippany has a sweets counter worth the stop on its own.
