Send me the list

Parsippany is one of the best places in New Jersey to eat Indian food, and it is not close. Route 46 and Littleton Road alone hold vegetarian thali houses, Punjabi grills, South Indian dosa counters and sweet shops, and the area draws people from across Morris County and well beyond it for a single meal.

Here is where we send people, plus a few spots just over the town line that are worth the extra five minutes.

Chand Palace

257 Littleton Road, Parsippany. The pure vegetarian buffet that a lot of North Jersey grew up on. The spread runs wide, the chaat station is the part regulars go quiet about, and it handles large groups better than almost anywhere else in town.

Tandoori Flames

1557 US Route 46, Parsippany. Tandoor driven and built around the grill, with a buffet that keeps the kebabs and breads coming. Good pick when half your table wants vegetarian and the other half absolutely does not.

Jashan by Dhaba

Parsippany. A more polished sit down room than most of the Route 46 strip, leaning North Indian, and one of the easier places nearby to book for an actual occasion rather than a quick weeknight plate.

Adyar Ananda Bhavan

Parsippany. Known to everyone as A2B. South Indian vegetarian, strong on dosa and idli, and the sweets counter is a legitimate reason to stop in on its own.

Just over the line, and worth it

Two of the places people search for alongside Parsippany are technically in neighboring towns, so we are listing them honestly rather than pretending otherwise.

Mumbai Tadka sits at 1729 Route 10 in Morris Plains, a few minutes east, and leans Mumbai street food. Sankalp is at 99 Ridgedale Avenue in Cedar Knolls, and is the one to know for South Indian and Indo Chinese.

How to order well around here

  • Buffet at lunch, menu at dinner. The lunch buffets in this corridor are the value, but the kitchens show off more from the dinner menu.
  • Say your spice level out loud. These kitchens will cook to it, and the default is usually tuned for a broad room.
  • Weekends get busy fast. Friday and Saturday evenings on the Route 46 stretch fill up, so call ahead if you are more than four people.
  • Vegetarian is the norm, not an afterthought. Several of these are fully vegetarian kitchens, which makes group planning a lot easier than people expect.
