Half Asia, half Latin America, one gate
Dream Asia Festival is one of the largest touring Asian food and culture festivals in the country, now eight cities deep with 2026 stops that include Las Vegas, Oaks in Pennsylvania, Baltimore and Massachusetts. The New Jersey stop is the one that got the twist. Organizers folded in Rico Rico Fiesta, their Latin food festival, so both events happen inside the same gates all weekend.
That means the food runs from soup dumplings, ramen, takoyaki and tanghulu to al pastor tacos, Cubano sandwiches, lechon and Ecuadorian chicharron. The stage schedule swings just as wide, from Taiko drums, Tinikling and a Lion Dance parade to a Samba parade, Mariachi and salsa. If you missed Dream Asia when it came through New Jersey earlier this year, this is the second shot, and it is a bigger version.
80+ food vendors, plus 30+ makers and artists
Food is the main event. More than 80 vendors are booked across the fairgrounds, spanning East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia and Latin America. Names already on the board include Beard Papa’s Japanese Cream Puff, Oishii Ramen and Tea Bar, One Meter Yakitori, Lechon Bae, Nattie’s Thai Kitchen, Birrieria Michi, Twisted Potato, Mao’s Bao, Jojo Takoyaki, Taste of Manila, Dumpling House, Tang Hu Lulu, Matcha n’ More, Anda Boba Tea, Hawaiian Honey Cones and Mildred’s Rainbow Ice.
Alongside the food sit more than 30 merch and artist vendors in the Silk Road Marketplace and Artist Alley, selling anime merchandise, collectibles, apparel, handmade goods and cultural souvenirs. If food festivals are your thing, there is plenty more on the calendar over on our Eat & Drink section.
Lucha Libre, sumo and a main stage that never really stops
Live Lucha Libre matches run multiple times every day, masks and all. Japanese sumo wrestling shares the bill, including a crossover performance between the two and a wrestler eating competition that is exactly as good as it sounds.
Headliners rotate by day. Le Twins take Saturday, Henao takes Sunday and Lower East Salsa closes out Monday on Labor Day itself. Around them the schedule fills in with anime cover band Eternal Hoshi, DJ Krisbebe, a K-pop random dance party, Chinese traditional dance by Xinyi Dance Studio, Thai music and dance by Sararum, Tinikling, a Lion Dance parade by Wushu Kung Fu Fitness Center, Mariachi Loco NY and a Samba parade led by the Afro Brazilian Cultural Center of New Jersey.
What kids get at Dream Asia Festival
Kids 10 and under are free, which is the line that makes this an easy family call. The Kids Activity Zone has a bounce house, a petting zoo and free workshops through the weekend, including lantern making and fan painting. There are real llamas on site, and VIP guests get a free photo with them during early access.
Cars, cosplay and contests
The JDM Car Expo brings out the import build crowd, and a drifting cart experience runs alongside it. On the competition side there is a Cosplay Contest, an all-day Karaoke Contest, a Squid Game Challenge and Samba workshops for anyone who wants to actually learn the steps instead of watching from the fence.
