The Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms in Morris Plains will host its 14th Annual Fall Family Day on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from noon to 4 p.m. Admission is free, and the afternoon turns one of New Jersey’s most important Arts and Crafts landmarks into a day of old-fashioned fall fun for all ages.

The museum calls Fall Family Day its biggest family program of the year, a celebration of the fall harvest and the property’s history as a working farm. Advance registration is recommended and free.

What to expect

The day is built for kids and the young at heart. Families can visit a petting zoo, take pony rides, paint pumpkins, and work through games, races, and scavenger hunts, with craft activities set up across the grounds. Artisans will give handcraft demonstrations in keeping with the Arts and Crafts spirit of the place, including woodworking, embroidery, and pottery.

The Denville String Band will perform during the afternoon, and food will be available for purchase from Apple Spice Junction. Outdoor activities depend on the weather, so it is worth checking the museum’s page before you head over.

Step inside the Log House

Craftsman Farms was the home of Gustav Stickley, one of the leading figures of the American Arts and Crafts movement, and the rustic Log House at its center is a National Historic Landmark. For Fall Family Day the museum sets aside its usual guided tours and instead opens the Log House for a self-guided Open House, so families can wander the rooms at their own pace between activities outside.

If you go

Fall Family Day runs Saturday, September 19, 2026, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms, 2352 State Route 10, Morris Plains. Admission is free and open to the public, and the museum recommends reserving a spot in advance through its event page. For questions, call the museum at 973-540-0311.
