Fosterfields Living Historical Farm in Morris Township is turning the clock back to the turn of the 20th century for Fall Farm Fun, its annual autumn celebration for all ages. The event runs every Saturday and Sunday in October, from October 3 through October 25, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the farm on Kahdena Road, just outside Morristown.
Fall Farm Fun lets families take in the season the old-fashioned way. Visitors can watch apples being pressed into cider on an antique screw press, take a wagon ride around the 200-acre property, and pick their own pumpkin straight from the patch. Everything is included with admission.
What to do at Fall Farm Fun
The day starts with a wagon ride through the rolling hills of the preserved farm, one of the last working historical farms in the area. From there, you can watch the cider-pressing demonstration and take a turn at the old screw press yourself.
Kids can meet the animals, including Jersey cows, piglets, goats, and chickens, and see a corn-cracking demonstration before feeding the hens. You can also step inside the historic buildings, including the 1915 farmhouse, the carriage house, and the original barns, and take a guided tour of The Willows, the 1854 mansion at the heart of the property. Tours are offered twice a day, at about 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Two indoor exhibits round out the visit: Well Played, a look at what childhood was like more than 100 years ago, and a transportation exhibit with a climb-on Model T truck and restored antique cars.
Pick your own pumpkin
Every visitor gets to choose a pumpkin from the patch, but a pumpkin is only guaranteed for those who pre-register. Pre-registration is recommended, and you can reserve a spot through the Morris County Park Commission registration page.

Admission is $15 per person, and children ages 2 and under are free. Gates open at 10 a.m., the last admission is at 3 p.m., and the farm closes at 4 p.m. The event runs rain or shine, so dress for the weather and for walking.
