Fosterfields is a working farm where you can see how life functioned more than 100 years ago. It’s a place where kids can feed chickens, families can tour a historic mansion, and everyone can connect with New Jersey’s agricultural past in a fun and engaging way.
Start at the Visitor Center
Your visit begins at the Visitor Center, which includes ADA-accessible restrooms, a rotating gallery space, and a permanent exhibition called Driving into the 20th Century. From there, it’s a short five-minute walk to the farm itself, where red barns, grazing animals, and costumed interpreters help bring history to life.
What to Do at Fosterfields
Once you reach the main farm area, there’s a lot to explore. Costumed staff demonstrate daily chores from the early 1900s, including butter churning, egg collecting, and crop planting. Visitors can help out or just watch and learn.

Guided Tours of The Willows
On certain days, a guided tour of The Willows mansion is included with admission. Built by Joseph Warren Revere, the grandson of Paul Revere, this Gothic-style home sits atop a hill with a beautiful view of the farm. Tours are offered at 11 AM and 2 PM. The walk to the house is uphill and on gravel, so if you need help, staff members are available. The first floor is wheelchair accessible.
Special Events and Rentals
Fosterfields Living Historical Farm also hosts a variety of seasonal events that are great for families and local groups. From sheep shearing and antique car weekends to Civil War reenactments and wintertime ice cutting, there’s always something new happening.
