Summer in Morris County means a sky full of color, and Pequannock Township is adding its night to the calendar. The township’s annual fireworks show returns to Pequannock Township High School on Friday, June 26, 2026, with the celebration running from 7 to 10 p.m. and the fireworks lighting up the sky after dark.
The event is free and open to the community, a longtime Pompton Plains tradition that brings neighbors out to the fields off Sunset Road for one of the first big fireworks nights of the season. If the weather does not cooperate, the township has set Saturday, June 27, as the rain date.
What to know before you go
The show is held at Pequannock Township High School at 85 Sunset Road in Pompton Plains. Families tend to arrive early, stake out a spot on the grass, and settle in before the sky goes dark. Bring a blanket or folding chairs, and give yourself extra time, since parking near the school fills up fast on fireworks night.
For the latest timing, parking notes, and any weather updates, the official township calendar listing is the place to check, and the township posts changes there if the rain date comes into play.
Part of a big summer across Morris County
Pequannock’s show lands in the middle of a packed stretch of summer celebrations, with America’s 250th birthday giving towns across the county extra reason to put on a display this year. The same Friday night, the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club fireworks light up Mount Arlington, and earlier in the week the Mine Hill America 250 Carnival brings four nights of rides and its own Saturday fireworks.
If you are mapping out the season, our roundup of 2026 summer festivals across Morris County has more nights worth circling on the calendar.
Mark Friday, June 26, find a patch of grass, and look up.
