Rockaway Township is holding its first town-wide yard sale on Saturday, September 19, 2026, and residents who want to sell have until Tuesday, September 15 to sign up.

The sale runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and happens rain or shine. Rather than gathering everyone in one parking lot, participating households sell from their own driveways and lawns across the township, and the town publishes a map of every registered address so shoppers can plan a route. Organizers expect the usual town-wide sale mix of furniture, clothing, household goods, antiques, and books, with the phrase “Deals on Everything” printed across the official flyer.

Registration is required for anyone who wants to host a sale, and it costs a $10 donation. Every dollar collected goes to the Historical Society of Rockaway Township, the volunteer group founded in 1973 that works to preserve local historical sites, documents, and artifacts. Residents can register at RockawayTownship.org or stop by the municipal building at 65 Mount Hope Road and pay in cash. Checks are made payable to Rockaway Township, and the township then passes the money along to the Historical Society.

A few details from the official registration form are worth knowing before signing up. Sellers need to be set up and ready to go by 8 a.m., though they are free to keep selling past 3 p.m. if they want. Every registered household receives an official event lawn sign that has to be displayed somewhere visible on the property during the sale. Residents in condominiums, apartments, and other multi-family buildings need approval from their property management or landlord first. The township also notes that it assumes no liability for injury, loss, or property damage occurring on private property during the event.

The stated registration deadline is Tuesday, September 15, but the form itself asks residents to return it with the $10 fee before September 8, so turning it in early is the safer play. The township plans to promote the sale across its official social media channels, the municipal website, and local firehouses.

Shoppers do not need to register for anything. Maps of all participating locations will be posted on the township website and other community platforms the morning of the event.
