Pet owners across Morris County have a chance to pick up skills that could save their dog or cat’s life. St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in Madison hosts a hands-on Pet First Aid and CPR Class on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 1:30 to 4:00 PM at 575 Woodland Avenue.
The class is taught by an emergency medical care provider and educator with more than 35 years of experience, and the afternoon is split between hands-on skills practice and a lecture portion, so you leave with real reps, not just notes.
What You Will Learn
The hands-on portion covers emergency muzzling and restraint for an injured or frightened pet, checking your pet’s vital signs, CPR technique for dogs and cats of all sizes, choking response for both conscious and unconscious pets, and bleeding control.
The lecture portion digs into preventative wellness, how to assess an emergency scene safely, and critical protocols for serious conditions like seizures, bloat, poisoning, and weather-related emergencies.
Registration and Cost
The class costs $65 per person and includes a detailed pet first aid handbook, an official certificate of completion valid for two years, and an emergency muzzle to start your own pet first aid kit. Participants must be 12 or older, and pre-registration with payment is required. Spaces are limited, so register through Paws N Claws 911 to lock in a spot.
