Broadway Chicken, the Nashville inspired fried chicken restaurant that got its start at the Jersey Shore, is coming to the Morris Hills Shopping Center on Route 46 in Parsippany. It will be the brand’s first location in Morris County. Broadway Chicken is listed as a tenant in a 2,266 square foot space on the shopping center’s leasing page, and no opening date has been announced yet.
The restaurant was founded by Manasquan natives Michael Kelleher and Michael Falato and was originally called Broadway Hot and Honey Chicken. The first location opened at Wall Central Plaza on Route 35 in Wall Township, and demand there led to a franchise program. Broadway Chicken has since spread to Freehold, Middletown, Westfield, Oceanport and Lawrenceville, with a location in Jupiter, Florida also in the works. Parsippany will be its first stop this far north in New Jersey.
The menu is built around fried chicken sandwiches, tenders, nuggets, wings and wraps, backed by biscuits, waffle fries, salads and milkshakes. The original chicken is served with honey, while the Nashville style brings the heat, and the sauces are made in house. Desserts include banana pudding and Oreo pudding, and the Nashville Caesar Wrap, with chicken, romaine, croutons, shaved parmesan and Caesar dressing, is one of the restaurant’s best known orders. According to Broadway Chicken’s website, the chicken is certified halal, raised in the USA, and free of antibiotics and steroids.
Broadway Chicken is joining a lineup that keeps getting stronger. The Morris Hills Shopping Center, at 3035 to 3189 Route 46, already includes Paris Baguette, Bubbakoo’s Burritos, Palermo’s Pizza, Desi Cravings, The Great Wazu and a Bank of America branch. The roughly 160,000 square foot center is also in the middle of a $15 million redevelopment that its owner, Brixmor, says is scheduled to wrap up in 2027, and it is the future home of Trader Joe’s in Parsippany.
Fried chicken fans in Parsippany will have even more to choose from soon, since Wingstop is also coming to Route 46 at The Shoppes at Parsippany.
We will share the opening date as soon as Broadway Chicken announces it. In the meantime, our local guide to Parsippany rounds up the best places to eat, shop and spend a weekend around town.
