Update, August 27: The festival was postponed by weather on August 22. The Mount Olive Recreation Department has rescheduled it for Saturday, August 29, and confirmed that NJ Monster Truck can make the new date.
Mount Olive is sending summer out with a bang, a week later than planned. The township’s Food Truck and Fireworks Festival now runs Saturday, August 29, from 4 to 10 p.m. at Turkey Brook Park, 30 Flanders Road in Budd Lake, with the fireworks show set for roughly 9:15 p.m. It is the kind of easy, end-of-summer night out the whole family can enjoy.
Monster truck rides made the new date
The biggest question after the postponement was whether the monster truck would come back with it. Mount Olive Recreation says NJ Monster Truck can make the new date, so the ride-along truck is still on for Saturday. The Recreation Department’s flyer lists rides at $10 per person, charged separately from festival admission.
A full evening of food, music, and fireworks
Billed as the ultimate end-of-summer celebration, the festival brings 19 food trucks to Turkey Brook Park, and each truck sets its own pricing, so come hungry and graze your way through.
Beyond the food, vendors will be on hand with handmade goods and local finds, and there are inflatables and games to keep the kids busy all evening. Jersey Girl Brewing runs a 21 and over beer garden (valid ID required), and live music plays throughout the night. The Recreation Department has not posted the rescheduled music lineup yet, so check the event page before you head over.
Tickets, parking, and what to know
Tickets are available at the gate: $10 for ages 18 and up, $5 for ages 13 to 17, and free for children 12 and under. Free event parking is available at Turkey Brook Park and at Chester M. Stephens Elementary School, and an ATM will be on site under the large pavilion. Handicap parking is in the Old Barn lot near the festival grounds (proper tags required), with drop-offs on Flanders Road in front of the Seward Mansion.
A couple of quick tips before you go: bring blankets and lawn chairs for relaxing and watching the fireworks, and leave the dog at home, since pets are not permitted on the festival grounds (service animals excepted).
