Three of the most respected acoustic guitarists working today are coming to Morristown for one day. The Folk Project presents the 3rd Annual New Jersey Guitar Summit on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the Morristown Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 21 Normandy Heights Road, Morristown. It is a full day of hands-on workshops for guitar players, and it ends with an evening concert that is open to everyone.

The lineup brings together three very different styles. Beppe Gambetta, the Italian flatpicking master from Genova, blends American and European roots music into one sound and co-presents the Summit with The Folk Project. Stephen Bennett, one of the most highly regarded fingerstyle guitarists of his generation and a leading exponent of the harp guitar, has released 37 albums and has been called “the Jedi master of fingerstyle guitar” by the Toronto Fingerstyle Guitar Association. Bennett has a local tie, too: he played his first solo guitar gig fifty years ago at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Rounding out the bill is Canadian roots and blues powerhouse Suzie Vinnick, a three-time Juno nominee who has won 12 Maple Blues Awards and two Canadian Folk Music Awards.

For players, the day starts at 9:30 a.m. with an introduction to the instructors, then three workshop sessions where each teacher leads beginner, intermediate and advanced groups in rotation. The afternoon adds a discussion panel with all three guitarists at 3:30 p.m., a jam session at 4:30 p.m., and dinner with more jamming from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The full-day Guitar Summit ticket is $148 and includes lunch, dinner, refreshments and the evening concert. A ticket for players 16 and under is $95.

Not a guitar player? The evening concert is the main event for music lovers. It begins at 8 p.m., and in-person concert tickets are $35, or $20 for kids 16 and under with a paying adult. Can’t make it in person? A live webcast ticket is $20. Seating is open and first come, first served, so arriving early is a good idea.

The Folk Project is New Jersey’s leading acoustic music and dance organization and has been showcasing acoustic and traditional music in North Jersey since 1971. This year’s Summit is funded in part by Morris Arts through the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.

For more information about the concert or the full-day Summit, call 201-207-8696 or visit FolkProject.org.
